Miss Jennifer Sharon Olson and Mr. Michael Thomas Graves were united in marriage on Saturday, November 10, 2001 at Oak Lawn United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Karon F. Cook officiated at the double ring ceremony. Guitarist Scott Graves, soloist Katherine Olson, and organist Russ Rieger provided music for the ceremony. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a seated dinner and dance at The Melrose Hotel with special music provided by Mira and Tim Olson and The Brave Combo. On the eve of the wedding, the groom and his parents hosted a Texas celebration at Billy Bob's in Fort Worth.
The bride is the daughter of Drs. J. Steven and Sharon Olson of Houston. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Vernie Rapp and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Olson of Rockford, Illinois. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Graves of Salt Lake City, Utah. He is the grandson of Mr. William Chapman and the late Mrs. Ethel Chapman of Salt Lake City, Utah, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Graves of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
The bride, escorted by her father, wore a candlelight Italian satin gown by Maggie Sottero, which featured embroidered ivory and lilac flowers. She carried a bouquet of white roses, accented with lavender freesia, rosemary, and seeded eucalyptus.
Jennifer's sister, Katherine Olson, served as her Maid of Honor. Her bridesmaids included Mira Olson, sister-in-law of the bride, and Stacey Vial, Ashley Lile, Lillian Cho, and Dara Aisner, friends of the bride. Karina Tormohlen served as junior bridesmaid and Brooke Markley, Erin Markley, and Alana MacKinnon were the flower girls. Michael's brother Scott Graves served as Best Man. Groomsmen included Tim Olson, brother of the bride, and Michael Holton, Dave Black, Steve Takahashi, and Michael Watson, friends of the groom. Nathanael Norris served as ring bearer.
The bride graduated magna cum laude from Rice University and is currently pursuing her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. The groom graduated summa cum laude from the University of Utah and is employed as a software engineer at Software Remodeling, Inc. in Dallas.
Following a wedding trip to Kauai, the couple will reside in Dallas.
