Miss Sofia Palandjoglou and Mr. James Walker Ryan II were united in holy matrimony on Saturday, October 20, 2001 at seven thirty in the evening at Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Dr. James Jackson. Music for the candlelight service was performed by The Houston Children's Chorus, under the direction of Mr. Stephen Roddy, Mr. Thomas Jaber, organist and Mr. George Chase, trumpeter.
A buffet dinner and dance followed at River Oaks Country Club with music provided by The Sensations of New Orleans and Grupo Ka-che of Houston. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents in the Astor Court at the St. Regis Hotel.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andres Palandjoglou of Houston, Texas and Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Joya Palandjoglou and the late Mr. Stavros Palandjoglou and Mrs. Ines Stewart and the late Mr. Alfred Angus Stewart.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Walker Ryan of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Carolyn Howe Jones and the late Mr. H.C. "Nub" Jones and Mr. and Mrs. William Hancock Ryan.
Given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown designed exclusively for her by Lisette Lux Haute Couture. The princess cut chapel length gown was made of pure silk double satin in ivory with panels of beadwork. The off shoulder neckline featured a scalloped collar drape, which was hand beaded on silk illusion with antique glass irridescent and satin bead motifs that were drawn from an 1850's gown. The bride's veil was a family heirloom of Brussels rosepoint turn-of-the century lace.
The bride's attendants were elegantly attired in original gowns of their own design in gold charmeuse silk.
Sisters of the bride, Miss Amalia Palandjoglou and Miss Stefania Palandjoglou of Washington, D.C., served as the Maids of Honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Laura Heath Ebeling and Miss Carolyn Ryan, sister of the groom, of Houston, Texas; Mrs. Tracy Ryan Perry, sister of the groom, of Phoenix, Arizona; cousins of the bride, Miss Paola Belloni, Miss Magdalena Palandjoglou and Miss Isabel Palandjoglou, all of Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Miss Maria Tovo and Miss Annie Tovo, cousins of the bride, of Mar del Plata, Argentina. Cousin of the bride, Miss Ines Tovo was the Junior Bridesmaid of Mar del Plata, Argentina and the flower girl was Miss Ryan Kathryn Perry, niece of the groom, of Phoenix, Arizona.
Mr. James Walker Ryan, father of the groom, and Mr. Ianni Palandjoglou, brother of the bride, of Washington, D.C. served as Best men. Groomsmen were Mr. Chadwick Dilworth Covey, Mr. Matthew Charles Davis, Mr. Derek William Darnell, Mr. Robert Bonnell McAndrew, Mr. Daniel Michael Peters and Mr. Thomas Seth Womble, all of Houston, Texas; Mr. Newman Charles Richards of Waco, Texas; Mr. Peyton Cash Welty of Dallas, Texas and Mr. Samuel Wade Perry of Phoenix, Arizona. Ring bearers were Mr. Samual Lee Andrew Marshall, cousin of the groom, of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Mr. Alfred Tovo, cousin of the bride, of Mar del Plata, Argentina.

Sofia is a graduate of Memorial High School and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, and a Texas Teaching Certificate.
Walker is a graduate of Memorial High School and Baylor University in Waco, Texas where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Finance. He is a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
Following a honeymoon to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Houston, Texas.
