Miss Leslie Kay Goodman and Mr. Scott Joseph Berg were united in marriage on Saturday, October 13, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at the Wyndham New Orleans Canal Place Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana. The candlelight double ring ceremony was officiated by Rabbi Barry Lewis Weinstein of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Music for the ceremony was arranged by Rachel Van Voorhees and included a harp, flute, cello, and trumpets. A reception followed at the hotel with music by Rockin' Dopsie Jr. and the Zydeco Twisters, and a second line by Joe Simon's Jazz Band. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at The Plimsoll Club.
Leslie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Arnold Goodman of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Frederick David Morrison and the late Mr. Morrison of Sylvania, Ohio and Mr. Benjamin Max Goodman and the late Mrs. Sally Carp Goodman of New Orleans.
Scott is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Michael Berg of Baton Rouge. He is the grandson of Mrs. Louise Frankfurt Gartner and the late Mr. Charles Gartner and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Henry Berg, all of Dallas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Leslie wore an elegant ivory silk tissue taffeta gown designed by Amsale of New York. The gown featured a fitted bodice of alençon lace embroidered with seed pearls. The full skirt swept into a chapel length train. Leslie's ensemble was complete with a cathedral length veil held in place by a handcrafted tiara of crystals and pearls. Her attendants were gowned in navy taffeta two-piece ensembles by Vera Wang.
Mrs. Ann Goodman Overstreet, sister of the bride, of Houston, served as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Claudia Garza Goodman, sister-in-law of the bride, of Denver; Mrs. Jessica Ramiel Berg, sister-in-law of the bride, of New Orleans; Miss Krista Danielle de Ipolyi of Austin; Miss Kimberly Ann Womack of Cambridge, Massachusetts; Miss Sarah Alice Bush and Miss Wendy Lynn Shear, both of Houston. Miss Isabella Sophia Goodman, niece of the bride, of Denver, and Miss Danielle Teresa Berg, cousin of the groom, of Houston, served as flower girls.
Members of the house party were Miss Brittany Taylor Goodman, of New Orleans; Miss Kelly Quin Morrison of Columbia, Ohio; and Miss Michelle Denise Mullen, of San Diego, all cousins of the bride; and Miss Jamie Tess Schecter, of Dallas, cousin of the groom.
Mr. Lee Michael Berg, father of the groom, served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. Charles Alan Berg, of Baton Rouge, and Mr. Ryan Levine Berg, of New Orleans, both brothers of the groom; Mr. Mark Stephen Berg, of Houston, uncle of the groom; Mr. David Charles Goodman, of Denver, brother of the bride; Mr. Curtis Todd Overstreet, of Houston, brother-inlaw of the bride; Mr. Brian Michael Haufrect of Cambridge, Massachusetts; and Mr. Harry Allen McGee, of Baton Rouge.
Ushers were Mr. William Jared Berg, of Houston, and Mr. Joshua Barton Schecter, of Dallas, both cousins of the groom; Mr. Dustin Scott Goodman, of New Orleans, cousin of the bride; Mr. Matthew Price Rush, of Chicago; and Mr. Alan Weinfeld, of San Francisco.
Leslie is a graduate of St. John's School in Houston and the University of Texas in Austin, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Learning and Development and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She is currently employed as a kindergarten teacher at the Caedmon School in New York.
Scott is a graduate of Episcopal High School in Baton Rouge and Tulane University in New Orleans, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Management and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He is also a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America and is currently employed at Gemveto Jewelry Company in New York.
Following a honeymoon trip, the couple will reside in New York.
