Dr. Andrea Nicole Marcogliese and Mr. Andrew Patrick Sheehan were united in marriage on October 20, 2001, at half past seven in the evening at St. Michael Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. The Reverend Sean Horrigan officiated the double ring ceremony. Music for the ceremony was provided by organist Norman Sutphin, trumpeter Dan Shipman, violinist Rodica Weber, and vocalist Lori Lamendola. Immediately following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at the Rainbow Lodge. The day before the wedding Mrs. Carol Gallo, the bride's grandmother, and Mrs. Judy Marcogliese, the bride's stepmother, hosted a bridesmaids' luncheon at Michelangelo's. On the eve of the wedding Mr. and Mrs. George Sheehan, the groom's parents, hosted a rehearsal dinner at Back Street Café.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. James Marcogliese and the late Mrs. Linda Marcogliese. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ida Marcogliese and the late Mr. Frank Marcogliese of Bronx, New York, and Mrs. Carol Gallo and the late Mr. Joseph Gallo of New York, New York.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Sheehan and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fitzgibbon and the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Sheehan all of Queens, New York.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a duchess silk satin gown designed by Monique Lhuillier with cathedral length veil and tiara. For jewelry, she chose a lovely pearl necklace and earrings borrowed from her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Carol Gallo. With her colorful bouquet she carried orange blossoms taken from her maternal great-grandmother's bridal ensemble, as well as a handkerchief crocheted by her paternal great-grandmother.
Alyse Makarewicz of Houston, Texas, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Tami Burfine of Lufkin, Texas, Anne Cerbu of Houston, Texas, Inna Donelan, DVM, of Atlanta, Georgia, Jodi Markus, MD, of Houston, Texas, and Angela Tobias of Houston, Texas. The bridesmaids wore burgundy gowns, each of a different design individually chosen by the bridesmaid.
Kevin Dalrymple of Houston, Texas, served as best man. Groomsmen were David Brashear of Houston, Texas, Michael Fasheh of Butler, New Jersey, Rick Haufe of Houston, Texas, Michael Marcogliese and Peter Marcogliese, both brothers of the bride and both of Boulder, Colorado, and Eduardo Sierra of Honduras.
Sarah Marcogliese, sister-in-law of the bride, of Boulder, Colorado, Jewels Carter of Houston, Texas, and Richerd Palumbo of Houston, Texas served as readers for the ceremony
The bride is a graduate of Kingwood High School. She received her Bachelors of Arts in Classical Studies from Tufts University, and her Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine. She is currently a resident in pathology at Baylor College of Medicine. The groom is a graduate of Wayne Valley High School. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Houston and is currently employed as an architect with Gensler of Houston, Texas.
Following a mini-honeymoon to Brenham, Texas, the couple will reside in the Heights of Houston, Texas. A honeymoon trip to Rome, Italy, and Greece is planned for the spring.
