Miss Jennifer Lee Monday and Mr. Thomas Christopher Leman were united in marriage on Saturday, October 20, 2001 at half past seven in the evening at Christ Church Cathedral in Houston, Texas. The Very Reverend Joe Douglas Reynolds and the Reverend Elizabeth Holden officiated the traditional double ring ceremony. Scripture readings were offered by Mr. Marion Barnes Leman, cousin of the groom, and Mrs. William Edward Pinckard, Jr., godmother of the bride. Music for the ceremony was performed by the combined choirs of Christ Church Cathedral and Saint Martin's Episcopal Church under the direction of Mr. Robert Simpson and Mr. George Mims. A reception followed at the Houston Country Club where the guests danced to the music of Sha' on & The Girls With Success of New Orleans. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The State Grille.
The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barrett Monday II of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. George Henry Fuller and the late Mr. George Henry Fuller of San Francisco, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller Monday of Houston.
The groom is the youngest son of Mrs. June Jacobs Leman of Houston and Mr. and Mrs. John Walthall Leman of Baytown, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Arthur Louis Leman and the late Mr. Arthur Louis Leman of Houston and the late Mrs. Irma Smith Tate and the late Mr. William Edward Jacobs of Punta Gorda, Florida.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless gown designed for her by Reem Acra of New York. The fitted bodice was hand beaded with pearls, silk threading, and crystals. The ball gown skirt, with box pleats and full gathers, flowed into a chapel length train.
Emily Monday McGaughy of Dallas served her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids included Susan Carter Abraham of Los Angeles, Ashley Mann Fielden of Atlanta, Leanne Weitzenkorn Kelly of San Antonio, Lara Luedecke Leman of Crosby, Texas, Laura Keeton McVey of New York, Esme Amanda Patterson, Genevieve Grace Patterson, both of Boulder, Colorado, and Tina Marie Villarreal of Houston. Flower girls were Mackenzie Virginia Patterson and Caroline Alexandera Patterson, both of Boulder.
Members of the house party included Katherine Woodson Glass, cousin of the bride, of Nashville, Tennessee, Caroline Brandon McGaughy of Concepcion, Chile and Lynda Anne Villarreal of Dallas.
Arthur William Leman of Houston served his brother as best man. Groomsmen included Arthur Louis Leman III of Spring, Texas, Benjamin Henry Leman of Magnolia, Texas, Charles Philip Leman of Crosby, Texas, John Walthall Leman, Jr. of Galveston, Texas, Richard Kent McGaughy, Jr. of Dallas, Bany Eduardo Gallegos, and Charles Barrett Monday III, both of Houston. Serving as the groom's ushers were Troy Andrew Fuller and Ryan Mathew Fuller, both of Sacramento Califonia, cousins of the bride.
Master Charles Philip Leman Jr., nephew of the groom, served as the honorary ring bearer.
The bride is a graduate of The Kinkaid School in Houston and Southern Methodist University where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Houston Law Center and is an associate with Smith, Rymer, Moore and Moos, P.C. in Houston.
The groom is a graduate of Baytown Sterling and The University of Texas, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is employed by Southwest Oilfield Products, Inc. as Engineering Manager.
Following a honeymoon in Hualtuco, Mexico, Mr. and Mrs Leman will reside on Tiki Island, Texas.
