Miss Doretha "DeDe" Ferrell and Dr. Dallas Alexander Lea II were united by God in marriage on Saturday, October 20, 2001 at eleven o'clock in the morning at Westminster United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Pastor Ralph W. West and Reverend Garry Masterson. Following the ceremony, the bride's mother hosted a reception at Paraiso Maravilla. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's godparents, Doctors Alphonse and Carolyn Carter, hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Gardens of Bammel Lane.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Norma Ferrell and the late Mr. Bennie Ferrell both of Houston, Texas. The groom is the son of the late Mr. Dallas Lea and the late Mrs. Mary Ellen Lea, both of Pennsylvania.
Given in marriage by her mother and escorted by her mother, the bride wore a strapless silk Mikado gown designed by Parisian designer, Max Chaoul, for Michelle Roth of New York.
The bride is a graduate of Scarborough High School in Houston, Texas and Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Management. She received a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. and is Vice President of Government Affairs for Viacom in Washington, D.C.
The groom is a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Howard University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology. The groom received a medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo and completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He is currently a Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Fellow at The Institute for Research and Rehabilitation in Houston, Texas.
The couple will travel to Curacao for their honeymoon.
