Miss Carrie Bryson Graham and Mr. Jeffrey Morrison McDowell were united in marriage on Saturday, October 20, 2001, at half past five at Cibolo Creek Ranch in Shafter, TX. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Michael Jasper of St. Barnabas' Episcopal Church, Odessa, Texas. Scripture readings were given by Mr. S. Albert Hanser III and Miss Jennifer Marie Walker. An evening of dinner and dancing under the west Texas stars followed. Music was provided by the C'Vere Band of Houston, Texas. The groom's parents hosted a cowboy themed rehearsal dinner at El Fortin de la Cienega on the eve of the wedding.
The Bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Pease Graham, III of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Louise Bryson Graham, of Corpus Christi, Texas, and the late Mr. Marshall Pease Graham, II, and Mr. Charles Jerome Long of San Antonio, Texas, and the late Mrs. Dolly Craig Long.
The Groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Stewart McDowell of Wayzata, Minnesota. He is the grandson of Mrs. Gretchen Luther Snyder and the late Mr. John Pillsbury Snyder, Jr., and the late Mrs. Anne Morrison Snyder all of Wayzata, Minnesota, and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Wallace McDowell of Binghamton, New York.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the Bride chose an elegant gown created by her Aunt Linda Scott of Designing Duo in San Antonio, Texas. The ivory duchesse silk dress featured a full skirt with six godets hand embroidered by Jo Ann White, also of Designing Duo.
The customary "something old" was an antique diamond horseshoe pin given to the Bride by the groom's mother, for "the new" the Bride and Groom wore matching boots by Wheeler Boot Company of Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Katherine Moore Jones, of Houston, Texas, served as the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Whitney Weed McDowell, sister of the groom, of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Kristy Clark Brockermeyer of Fort Worth, Texas, and Miss Jennifer Lee Dollinger, Miss Sarah Read Hotze, Miss Sarah Ruth Morrisett, Miss Natalie Marie Nicholson, Miss Ashley Kirby Short, Miss Kimberly Ann Vavrek all of Houston, Texas.
Mr. Blackwell Oliver James Taylor, of Boston, Massachusetts, served as the best man. Groomsmen were Mr. William Beriah Graham, brother of the bride, of Austin, Texas, Mr. Shawn Adair Patterson, Mr. Michael Craig Williams, both of Houston, Texas, Mr. William Hart Creelman, of Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Nicholas Hyland Dilks, of Washington, D.C., Mr. Lewis Douglas Fenton, of Los Angeles, California, Mr. Douglas Frederic Tansill, of New York City, New York, and Mr. Scott Gordon Willard, of Charlottesville, Virginia.
Carrie is a graduate of Lamar High School in Houston. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. Jeff is a graduate of the Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from Vanderbilt University where he was a Phi Kappa Psi.
The couple will reside in Boston, Massachusetts and will take a delayed honeymoon to Africa.
