Miss Danna Elizabeth Davidson and Mr. Phillip Todd Crenshaw were united in marriage on Saturday, October 27, 2001 at 4 o'clock in the afternoon at Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Lee Maxcy of Second Baptist Church. Music for the ceremony was provided by Encore Strings and trumpeter Vaughan Pederson and The Fort Bend Boys Choir. Following the ceremony a reception was held at The Houstonian with music by Grady Gaines and the Texas Upsetters. On the Friday prior to the wedding, a bridesmaids luncheon was held at The Houstonian. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at La Strada on San Felipe. On Sunday, Sidney and Gladys Raffkind, the groom's maternal grandparents, hosted a brunch at The Houstonian.
Danna is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Ambrose Davidson of Jackson, Tennessee. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. June Ambrose Davidson and the late Doctor June Ambrose Davidson of Jackson, Tennessee and Mrs. James Edward Tate, Senior and the late Mr. James Edward Tate, Senior of Milan, Tennessee.
Todd is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Lee Crenshaw of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Clarence Albert Crenshaw and the late Mr. Clarence Albert Crenshaw of Bradenton, Florida and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Wolf Raffkind of Amarillo, Texas.
Given by her parents in marriage and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant gown of ivory silk-faced satin designed by Amsale of New York. The strapless bodice featured a dropped waist and a contoured line emphasized by an intricately beaded net overlay. The full skirt fell gracefully into a chapel length train. Danna's ensemble was completed with the addition of a crystal tiara, softened by a veil of illusion. Her attendants were gowned in two-piece ensembles by Vera Wang in charcoal taffeta.
Ms. Carol Elizabeth Thailing of Austin, Texas served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Ms. Wendy Marie Davidson, cousin of the bride, of Birmingham, Alabama; Mrs. Julianne Tipton Higdon, cousin of the bride, of Paducah, Kentucky; Mrs. Jennifer Tipton Pollock cousin of the bride, of Lutz, Florida; Ms. Anna Lee Ramsey, cousin of the bride, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and Miss Maggie Jaye Tate, cousin of the bride, of Murray, Kentucky.
Mr. Derrick Lee King of Arlington, Virginia served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. Brent Andrew Crenshaw, brother of the groom, of Austin, Texas; Mr. Dow Ambrose Davidson, brother of the bride, of Birmingham, Alabama; Mr. Todd Strawder Gaines of Houston, Texas; Mr. James Devon Hyde of Austin, Texas; and Mr. Neil Bordelon Shaw of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Ushers were Mr. Lance Edward Davidson, cousin of the bride, of Knoxville, Tennessee and Mr. David Newman Ramsey, cousin of the bride, of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Registrars were Mr. James Evan Davidson, cousin of the bride, of Jackson, Tennessee and Master James Keaton Tate, cousin of the bride, of Murray, Kentucky.
Danna is a graduate of Jackson Christian School in Jackson, Tennessee and Baylor University in Waco, Texas where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She is currently employed as a sales representative by Davidson Titles, Inc.
Todd is a graduate of The John Cooper School in The Woodlands, Texas and the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega. He is currently employed as the Sales Manager for Houston Press.
Following a honeymoon to Paris, France and the South of France, the couple will reside in Houston, Texas.
