Miss Amy Lyn Higginbotham and Mr. James Rudolph Hedlesten were united in marriage on Saturday, October 6, 2001 at half past six in the evening at Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Dr. Carson Stephens, President of Austin Graduate School of Theology, University Avenue Church of Christ in Austin, Texas. Music for the candlelight ceremony was performed by Avalon Music's String Quartet. Scripture readings were given by Miss Erin Michelle Lenig, Mr. Christopher Henslee, and Mr. Ryan Browning Sperry, close friends of the bride and groom.
A reception hosted by the bride's parents followed the ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel with music provided by the David Caseres Band. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's family hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Kirby Mansion in Houston.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randall Joe Higginbotham of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Higginbotham of Livingston, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Monceaux of Pasadena, Texas. The groom is the son of Ms. Diane Marie Azar Hedlesten of Pompano Beach, Florida. He is the grandson of Dame Darlene Azar Rubinoff of Houston, Texas and the late Mr. Phillip H. Azar of Columbus, Ohio.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Amy selected an exquisite gown of delustered matte satin in antique cream, designed by Maggie Sotterro. Embroidered Barcelona lace and Swarovski crystals accentuated the bodice and three quarter length illusion sleeves. Falling gracefully from the waist, a cross-over antique satin skirt swept into a magnificent sweep length train adorned with antique matte satin buttons.
Her cathedral veil of silk illusion was held by a beautiful headpiece of pearls and Swarovski crystals. Amy carried five dozen Charlotte, Black Magic, and Fire and Ice red roses, accentuated with Italian Ruscus, and hand gathered with antique cream satin and pearl pins to form her stunning bouquet.
The bridesmaids wore sleeveless floor length charcoal Duchesse Satin Gowns by Alex Evenings with elbow length matte silk crepe gloves. Their ensembles were enhanced by illusion pearl necklaces. Each of Amy's fourteen bridesmaids and attendants carried a bouquet of eighteen roses in a unique color specially selected for each by Amy and designed by Floral Events of Houston, Texas.
Matrons of Honor were Mrs. Risa Gwendolyn Hoyle of Austin, Texas and Mrs. Shana Ashley Teel-Ashcraft of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Bridesmaids were Miss Nickoel Renee Azar of Houston, Texas, Miss Kathryn Denise Bledsoe of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Kelly Ann Dean of Pearland, Texas, Mrs. Alexis Maria Kennedy of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Claudine Provenza Lang, of Katy, Texas, Miss Heather June Martin of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Tara Rene Minter of Plano, Texas, Mrs. GeorgAnn Hedlesten Oglesby of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Kasie Lynn Sanderson, of San Antonio, Texas, and Miss Traci Lynn Wilson of Dallas, Texas.
Serving as Amy's Junior Bridesmaid and Attendant were Miss Natasha Demi Azar of Houston, Texas and Miss Rebecca Leigh Medford of Houston, Texas.
Flower girls were Miss Allison Haley Anderson of Houston, Texas, Miss Victoria Anne Park of Houston, Texas and Miss Madeleine Claire Ream of Houston, Texas.

The bride attended South Houston High School and was a 1993 Graduate of Faith Christian Academy. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations and Marketing from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. She is currently employed as a World Reporter for SPACE MEDIA Stars Academy and On-Camera Host for Educational Programs at NASA/Johnson Space Center.
The groom is a 1994 graduate of Memorial High School in Houston, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Southwest Texas State University and his Juris Doctorate from Texas Southern University School of Law. He is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and Delta Theta Phi, Founding Dean, Law Fraternity.
After a honeymoon in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, Amy and James will make their home in Houston, Texas.
