Dr. Leslie Elizabeth Lace and Mr. Benjamin Harpster Wells were married on Saturday, November 3, at six in the evening at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Arlington, Texas. The Rev. Mark L. Cannaday, Rector of St. Alban's, officiated. Readings were by Mr. Benjamin Gladney Wells, father of the groom, and Mrs. Courtney Bartz Harrell, friend of the bride. Music was by Mrs. Charlene Dorsey, organist, and the Pavane String Quartet.
A buffet reception followed the ceremony at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner echoing the Orient Express at the historic Texas and Pacific Railroad Station in downtown Fort Worth.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Worley Lace of Arlington and the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. William Theodore Lace of Fort Worth and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Robert Monkhouse of Houston.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Gladney Wells of Houston and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Willard Harpster of Houston and Mrs. Benjamin Harris Wells and the late Mr. Benjamin Harris Wells of St. Louis, Missouri.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white silk shantung designed by Galina. The bodice and hemline were adorned with beaded Alencon lace. The low V back was accented by covered buttons and three-tier loops attached to a graceful chapel train. Her veil of silk illusion was held by a headpiece of pearls and porcelain roses.
Miss Yvonne Marie Roemer of New York City was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Andrea Price-Lace of Falls Church, Virginia; Dr. Barbara Wells Trautner of Houston; and Mrs. Nicole Kressler Lowenberg of Austin.
Members of the House Party were Ms. Shelly Lyn Armstrong of Houston, Mrs. Ashley Taff Gee of San Antonio, Mrs. Courtney Bartz Harrell of Austin, and Dr. Jin Sun Park of Portland, Oregon.
Mr. Anupong Jack Tejavanija of Los Altos, California, served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. William Christian Lace of Falls Church, Virginia; Dr. Paul Kevin Trautner of Houston; and Mr. James Hamilton Mayor of Houston.
Miss Margaret Katherine Trautner, the groom's niece, was flower girl, and Master Nicolas Asher Lowenberg, the bride's cousin, served as ring bearer.
The bride is a graduate of Arlington High School and the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority, president of the U.T. Orange Jackets, and was named an Outstanding Student. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and served an additional year as a chief pediatric resident.
The groom attended The Kinkaid School and graduated from St. John's School in Houston. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Amherst College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School. While in law school, he taught economics at Harvard and received the Derek Bok Award for undergraduate teaching. He is a member of Lincoln's Inn and the Harvard Faculty Club.
Following a wedding trip to the Napa Valley, the couple will reside in Austin. The bride is in practice with Hill Country Pediatrics, and the groom is an attorney with the Austin office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
