Miss Laura Elaine Miller and Mr. John Blondin Laury were united in marriage on Saturday, September 15, 2001 at half past seven o'clock in the evening at St. Michael Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Reverend Stephen Cooley, M.S.W. Music for the ceremony was provided by organist Norman Sutphin, and trumpeter Steve Wenig. Scripture readings were given by Mrs. Sue Miller Shivers Vance, cousin of the bride, and Brother Sean McLaughlin, S.D.S., the groom's uncle and godfather. A reception hosted by the bride's parents followed at Tony's Ballroom with music by Grady Gaines and the Texas Upsetters. On the day of the wedding, the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Irma Miller, the bride's sister-in-law, Mrs. Kindra Miller and Mrs. Anne Owens hosted a bridesmaid luncheon. On the eve of the wedding the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Grappino di Nino.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory ball gown featuring a strapless bodice embellished with opaque crystal beading, embroidery and delicate pearls. Her full, layered tulle skirt led to a sweeping train. To compliment her gown, the bride wore a Swarovski tiara of silver, crystals and pearls.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Elton Miller of Cypress, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Irma Miller of Fort Worth, Texas formerly of Austin, Texas and the late Mr. Elton Morris Miller and the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Neal Blackstone all of Austin, Texas. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Arthur Laury of Katy, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James McLaughlin of Boonton, New Jersey and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Blondin Laury of Bala Cynwood, Pennsylvania.
Miss Michelle Christine Latham of Grapevine, Texas served as Maid of Honor and the bride's sister-in-law, Mrs. Kindra Suzanne Hyer Miller of Dallas, Texas served as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids included Mrs. Kathleen Suzanne Laury Fortino, sister of the groom, of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida; Miss Elizabeth Hatch MacDonald of Portland, Maine and Miss Tracey Lynn Meyers of Round Rock, Texas. Flower Girls were Miss Claire Catherine Moore of Indianapolis, Indiana and Miss Kasey Elizabeth Ennis of Rockville Center, New York, both cousins of the groom. Members of the House Party included Miss Ambyr Erin Smith of Houston, Texas; Miss Jean Elizabeth Barrios of Arlington, Texas; Miss Laura Elizabeth Cates of Spring, Texas and Miss Anne Brooke Baumgardner, cousin of the bride, of Fort Worth, Texas.
Serving as the groom's Best Men were his brother, Daniel Charles Laury of Houston, Texas and Thomas George Newton of Dallas, Texas. Groomsmen were Mr. Ryan David Miller, brother of the bride, of Dallas, Texas; Mr. Daniel Phillip Sodemann of Madison, Wisconsin and Mr. William Jeffrey Lloyd of Cypress, Texas. Ring Bearer was Master Jeffrey Ryan Fortino, nephew of the groom, of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. Ushers were Mr. Adam Smith Jordan of Dallas, Texas and Mr. Jonathan Anthony Mormile of Katy, Texas.
The bride is a graduate of Kennebunk High School in Kennebunk, Maine and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Stephen F. A u stin State University in
Nacodoches, Texas. She is a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and a Sweetheart of Sigma Chi.
The groom is a graduate of Taylor High School in Katy, Texas and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacodoches, Texas. He is a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Both Laura and John are currently employd with Recruitment Enhancement Services, a division of the Bernard Hodes Group.
Following a honeymoon on the island of Maui, Hawii the couple will reside in Houston, Texas.
