Alexis Kara Dawson and Honore Emanuel Britton were married on September 15, 2001, at the First Baptist Church of Dallas. The double ring ceremony, held at six o'clock in the evening, was performed by the Rev. Willie Range. Music was provided by Johnetta Ingram and Jerrell Sattiewhite, uncle of the bride. Scripture readings were given by Ms. Shannon Coleman.
Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance reception was hosted by the bride's parents at the City Club of Dallas. On the eve of the wedding a bridesmaid brunch was hosted by the aunts of the bride at the home of Lisa Keys-Blair. A pre-nuptial dinner was held at Pappadeaux following the rehearsal.
Alexis is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Dawson of Houston; the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Briggs, Sr. of Amarillo, TX and the late Mrs. Beulah Holmes of Atlanta, TX. Honore is the son of Mrs. Effie Britton of Biloxi, MS and the late Mr. Davie Britton.
Alexis, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, chose an elegant silk strapless sheath gown with a bodice heavily encrusted with pearls and sequins. The back of the gown was accentuated with bridal buttons. The semichapel length train and gloves were embellished with matching pearls and sequins. To complete the ensemble, the headpiece was faceted with pearls and held the twotiered fingertip veil.
Serving their friend as maids of honor were Vera Porter and Tami Wilson. The bridesmaids, cousins of the bride, were Senta Owens, Milene Owens, and Lesla Nickerson. The flower girl was Keristyn Spencer.
Honore's best man was best friend Frank McKinley. Brothers of the groom serving as groomsmen were John, David, James and George Britton. Ringbearer was Avery Lomax.
The guests were escorted by ushers Rodney Branch, Travis English, Trevor Collins and cousins to the bride, Lance Briggs and Mordecai Nickerson.
Alexis is a graduate of Kingwood High, Kingwood, TX and the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently employed as a claims team manager with State Farm Insurance Company. Honore graduated from Biloxi High, Biloxi, MS and Mississippi Valley State University. He is a firefighter/paramedic for the City of Dallas.
Following a honeymoon trip to Jamaica, the couple will be at home in Frisco, TX.
