Lori Ann Hicks and Patrick Joseph Lauden were united in marriage on Saturday, September 15, 2001 at five o'clock in the afternoon at Lakewood United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The candlelight double ring ceremony was officiated by Doctor Lawrence Culbertson. Music for the ceremony was provided by the Houston String Quartet, organist Matt McCue and soloists Kandice Kirkham and Shary Winkelmann. A reception hosted by the bride's parents followed at Lakeside Country Club with music provided by The Pictures. Mrs. Kathryn Alders, aunt of the bride, hosted a bridesmaid luncheon the day before the wedding at the Junior League Tea Room of Houston. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Damian's Cucina Italiana.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hicks of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Virginia Deacon of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the late John L. Deacon and Mrs. Geraldine Hicks of Livingston, Texas and the late Oscar L. Hicks. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Lauden of McKinney, Texas. He is the grandson of Mr. John Garrison of Merritt Island, Florida and the late Joan O. Garrison and Mrs. Agnes Lauden of McKinney, Texas and the late Edward J. Lauden.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride chose an elegant gown created especially for her by Lazaro of New York. The sculptured bodice featured a dropped waistline and fine beaded spaghetti straps. Intricate embroidery decorated with crystals and bugle beads flowed over the bodice in a floral motif. The full skirt fell from box pleats into a chapel length train in silk faced satin. The brides ensemble was complete with the addition of a hand crafted tiara of pearls and crystals with two tier veiling of soft illusion embellished with matching crystals.
Miss Angie Hicks of Stockton, California, the bride's sister, served as the Maid of Honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Kim Corley of Lewisville, Texas, Mrs. Maryann Hicks of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mrs. Taylor Killian of Birmingham, Alabama, Miss Katy Lauden, sister of the groom, of McKinney, Texas, Miss Sara Beth Lipscomb of Fort Worth, Texas and Mrs. Kelly Slater of Dallas, Texas. The House Party included Miss Kandice Kirkham, Miss Jill Matthews and Miss Kamerin Penske. Macy Tralmer served as the Flower Girl.
Mr. John Lauden of Leander, Texas, the groom's brother, served as the Best Man. The groomsmen were Mr. Andrew Bolin of Houston, Texas, Mr. Clay Hicks of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mr. Neil Moseley of McKinney, Texas, Mr. Jay Smith of McKinney, Texas, Mr. Alex Tionloc of Dallas, Texas and Mr. Benny Tucker of McKinney, Texas. Serving as Ushers were Mr. Tim Griffith, Mr. Jeremy Hoag, Mr. Jeff Rissmiller and Mr. Clay Teller. Zachary Lauden, nephew of the groom, served as the ring bearer.
The bride is a graduate of Cypress Creek High School in Houston, Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at Baylor University where she was a member of the Phi Beta Phi sorority. Last year she taught first grade at Metcalf Elementary School in the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District.
The groom is a graduate of McKinney High School in McKinney, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Distribution at Texas A&M University. He is currently employed with Rockwell Automation as a sales engineer.
Following a honeymoon to Harbour Island, Bahamas, the couple will reside in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
