Miss Natalie Dawn Thurman and Mr. William Patrick Houstoun were united in marriage on September 15, 2001 at half past seven o'clock in the evening at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston. The candlelight, double-ring ceremony was officiated by Dr. James W. Moore. Music was provided by organist Rob Landes and soloist Gail Tolliver, of Boerne. A reception followed the ceremony at The Forest Club with music provided by The Grooves. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Ruggles in Enron Field.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bryan Thurman, of Boerne, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Leo Choffel, of San Antonio and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allen Thurman, of Kilgore. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rock Nicholson Houstoun, of Houston and the grandson of Mrs. Robert Smith Chew, Jr. and the late Mr. James Patrick Houstoun, Jr. of Houston and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Banker of Wharton.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal length gown of imported ivory silk organza. Her fitted bodice was strapless with an A line skirt that featured hand rolled satin roses clustered at the center of the low back and the skirt fell to a full chapel length train. She wore a cathedral length Italian silk-edged veil especially designed for her by Beryl Hayslip, a family friend. The necklace worn by the bride was a family heirloom.
Maids of Honor were Lindsey Anne Stratton, of Houston and Brooke Allison Watts, of Austin. Bridesmaids were Katherine Nicholson Houstoun, Martha Anne Houstoun, sisters of the groom, both of Houston, Betsy Lynn Knight, of Spring and Heather Kaye Moss, of Portland, Texas. The Junior bridesmaid was Sallie Banker Houstoun, sister of the groom, of Houston. The house party attendants were Brooke Alison Chidgey, of San Antonio, Cheri Scott Gardner, of Georgetown, Sara Elizabeth Houstoun, of Houston, and Pauline Annette Miller, of Rosenberg, both cousins of the groom, Ann Elizabeth Raney, of San Antonio and Allison Lynn Young, of DeSoto.
Best Men were Brian Adams Goodsell, of Austin and the groom's father Rock Nicholson Houstoun, of Houston. The groomsmen were Richard Jason Anderson, of Houston, Michael Scott Burrer, of Montgomery, Joseph Cameron Nokes, of Austin, Cory Michael Thurman, brother of the bride, of Boerne and Cody Ray Smith, of Georgetown. Serving as Head Usher was James Oliver Kyle, of Houston. Ushers were Joseph Michael Etzler, of Austin, Ryan Edward Huie, of Boerne, James Oliver Kyle, of Houston, John Frederick Saari, Jr., of Phoenix, Arizona and Joseph Eugene Schlaffer, of Midland. The page was Dylan Scott Gardner, of Georgetown and the acolyte was James Patrick Houstoun, IV, of Houston, cousin of the groom.
Natalie, a graduate of Boerne High School, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business with a minor in Sociology from Southwestern University, in Georgetown, Texas, where she was a member and President of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She is currently employed as a development assistant at The Monarch School in Houston.
Will, a graduate of The Kinkaid School, also received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Southwestern University, where he was a member and President of Kappa Alpha Order. He is currently employed at Insurance Alliance as an account executive.
Following their honeymoon to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the couple will reside in Houston.
