Miss Melissa Jane Floeter and Mr. Samuel Greenwood Pitts were united in marriage on Saturday, September 8, 2001 at seven-thirty in the evening at First Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas.
The double ring candlelight ceremony was officiated by Reverend Asa Hunt.
Music for the ceremony was provided by organist Joby Bell, trumpeter Dan Shipman and the Fort Bend Boys Choir of Texas, directed by Bill Adams.
The scripture reading was given by Mr. Richard Joseph Saad, Jr.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at Houston Country Club with music provided by Commercial Art.
On the eve of the wedding, a bridesmaid's luncheon was hosted by Mrs. JoAnn Neslage and Miss Ann Marie Neslage at the Junior League.
A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Brennan's.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Andrew Denham and Mr. Elliot Gonne Floeter III of Houston, Texas.
She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Burnest Brown and Mrs. Katherine Keffer Floeter of Wimberly, Texas and the late Mr. Elliot Gonne Floeter, Jr.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Gayle Greenwood Pitts and Dr. and Mrs. R. Edwin Pitts of Houston, Texas.
He is the grandson of the late Mrs. Clara Ann Greenwood of Temple, Texas and Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Ross Greenwood of Salado, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Hayes Pitts of Austin, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride selected a gown of ivory silk satin designed by Richard Glasgow.
The princess style gown was worn strapless, enhanced by an embroidered and beaded band completely encircling the bodice, widening as it swept gently to the back.
Satin bridal buttons marked the closure down the narrow A-Line skirt ending at the edge of the chapel length train.
To complement her gown, she wore a tiara of pearls and crystals holding her veil, which cascaded in tiers falling beyond the length of her train.
Marsha Floeter Saad of Houston, Texas, sister of the bride, served as Matron of Honor and Ann Marie Neslage of Dallas, Texas served as Maid of Honor.
Bridesmaids included Allison Peyton Brandt of Houston, Texas, Emily Suzanne Brooks of New York, New York, Leslie Conte Childress of Encinitas, California, Cary Collins Jones of Los Angeles, California, Amie Rebecca Robinson of New York, New York, and Alice Price Pritchett of Fort Worth, Texas.
Honorary attendants included Mina Castleman Ehrie of Austin, Texas, Kimberley Michelle Flack and Lauren Collins Pitts, sister of the groom, both of Houston, Texas, and Courtney West Follett and Susie Leigh Rulewicz both of Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Christopher Rowan Pitts, brother of the groom, and Dr. R. Edwin Pitts of Houston, Texas, father of the groom, both served as Best Men.
Groomsmen included Patrick Todd Brann of New York, New York, Stewart Christopher McLeod of Dallas, Texas, Doak Doubet Brown, Joseph Henry Pratt, Lee Howard Staley, all of Houston, Texas, and Robert Alexander Wilkens of Austin, Texas.
Serving as Ushers were William Clayborne Duvall, Jr., and Wallace Robert Nichols, both of Austin, Texas and Robert C. Christy, Jr., John Brian Sims, Michael Craig Williams and Richard E. Pitts, brother of the groom, all of Houston, Texas.
The bride is a graduate of Memorial High School in Houston, Texas.
She received her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.
The groom is a graduate of Kinkaid in Houston, Texas and received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
Sam is employed by UBS Warburg in Dallas, Texas.
Following a honeymoon in the Fiji Islands, Mr. and Mrs. Pitts will reside in Dallas, Texas.
