Miss Amy Christine Davis and Mr. Kyle Marr Simson were united in marriage on Saturday, June 2, 2001 at seven o'clock in the evening. The Reverend Lee McKenzie officiated the double ring ceremony at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. Music was provided by organist Bob Bennett, harpist Ingrid Sevy, and soloists Molly Michalek and Hayden Riley. Mr. William Hurd served as a reader. Following the ceremony, the marriage was celebrated by family and friends at the St. Regis. On the eve of the wedding, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Grappino di Nino.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Warren Davis. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Myrtle Mounger Bell and the late Mr. Gayle Bell and Mr. George Brian Davis and the late Mrs. Evelyn Buehner Davis.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Marr Simson. He is the grandson of Mrs. Margaret Moon Gibson and the late Mr. Lawson Gibson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Marr Simson.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown of silk satin organza designed by Vera Wang. The pale ivory gown featured a strapless bodice and a full ball gown skirt that fell from a dropped waist. The back of the gown was accented by satin bridal buttons and a rose-colored sash cascading to the floor.
Miss Carrie Ann Aldridge of Austin served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids included Mrs. Marie Weaver Crider of Houston, Mrs. Amy Zenick Matejka of Jefferson, Louisiana, and Mrs. Sarah Stahlecker Pearson of Fort Worth. Members of the houseparty included cousins of the bride, Ms. Brenda Edwards Swan and Miss Anna Christine Davis.
Mr. Kirti Venkappa Gani of Austin served as Best Man. Groomsmen included Mr. Gregory Brandon Davis of Houston, brother of the bride, Mr. Daniel Paul Tesone of Louisville, Colorado, cousin of the groom, Mr. Nellson Denman Burns of Houston, Mr. Kenneth Charles Ferguson of Tempe, Arizona, and Mr. Neal Jason Mayfield of Alexandria, Virginia. Ushers included Mr. Christopher Alan Cochran, Mr. Darin Ray Cracknell, and cousins of the groom, Mr. Chad Aaron Gibson, Mr. Ryan Allen Gibson, and Mr. Scott David Tesone.
The bride is a graduate of Bellaire High School in Bellaire, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Political Science from Texas A&M University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She will receive her Masters in Education from St. Thomas University in Houston. In August, she will begin her teaching career at West University Elementary School.
The groom is a graduate of Westwood High School in Austin, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Old Army Gentlemen's Society. He is currently employed with Enron Broadband Services.
Following a honeymoon trip to the Hawaiian Islands of Kauai and Hawaii, the couple will reside in Houston.
