Doctor Angela Katherine Ferguson and Doctor John Christopher Champion were united in marriage on June 2, 2001 at seven o'clock in the evening at University Baptist Church in Houston. The candlelight double-ring ceremony was officiated by Doctor Robert Creech, Senior Pastor. The music was provided by Chamber Music Unlimited, featuring a string quartet, harpist, and trumpeter. Organist Lidie Murff, and pianist Darlene Archer provided music for soloists, Mrs. Shauna Garrison and Mr. Cory Thompson. A reception followed at the Petroleum Club of Houston, with music by Grady Gaines and the Texas Upsetters. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's mother at Churrascos.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Cecil Ferguson, Jr., of Houston and the granddaughter of Mrs. Nelva Lee Ferguson of Tomball. The groom is the son of Mrs. Carolyn Ann Jensen of Corpus Christi and Mr. Joe August Champion of Brownsville.
Given in marriage by her parents, and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white silk organza gown designed by Vera Wang of New York. The strapless gown featured a full skirt which swept into a six-foot cathedral length train. To compliment her gown, the bride chose an Australian crystal tiara from which flowed layered illusion, at elbow and cathedral lengths.
The bridesmaids wore strapless gowns of iridescent pink taffeta designed by Vera Wang. The Matron of Honor was Mrs. Johnann Appenbrink Lidisky of Sugar Land. Bridesmaids were Miss Jennifer Renee Davis, Miss Carrie Robbins Livesay, Mrs. Gina Panzica McMahon, Miss Darien Lei Onizuka, and Mrs. Leslie King Silva, all of Houston; Doctor Stacy Russell Beaty, Doctor Brittany Blackwell DeBerry, Mrs. Stacey Crawford French, and Doctor Renee Remi Solis, all of Galveston.
Members of the House Party included Miss Jennifer Linn Ferguson of Magnolia, Doctor Whitney Condra Keller of Galveston, and Miss Allison Nicole Kreitz of Houston. The Flower Girl was Miss Hannah Louise Ferguson cousin of the bride and Master Austin Louis Stanton, nephew of the bride, served as the Ring Bearer.
The groom's Best man was Doctor David Morris Marks of San Diego, California. The groomsmen were Doctor Lane Ray Miller of Houston; Doctor William Miles Beary, Doctor Antonio Joseph Chamoun, Mr. Aurelio Cardenas Diaz, and Doctor Todd Edward Lindley, all of Galveston; Mr. Troy David Hooper of Austin, Doctor Thomas Ray Burdick of Portland, Oregan, Doctor John William Hollinsworth of Durham, North Carolina; and Doctor Fredd Elliott Miller of Peach Tree City, Georgia.
Ushers were Mr. James Everett Behringer of Houston, Doctor Vijay Devaguptapu Subbarao of Parkville, Missouri; Doctor Stephen Joseph Bernard Sibbitt and Doctor Randolph Todd Smith, both of Galveston.
The bride is a graduate of Clear Lake High School, and Texas A&M University, and is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She recently received her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. In July, she will begin her internship in General Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and plans to pursue a fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
The groom is a graduate of Ray High School in Corpus Christi and Baylor University. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. In July, he will complete a fellowship in Cardiology, and will join the faculty at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, specializing in Heart Failure.
Following a honeymoon to Bora Bora and Moorea, the Doctors Champion will reside in Galveston.
