Daphne Murray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Gawthrop Jr. of Sacramento, California and Mr. Robert Murray of Houston, Texas was married yesterday to Alfred Rawls Butler V, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Butler IV of Charlottesville, Virginia. The Reverend L. D. Wood-Hull and the Reverend Charles Newbery performed the ceremony at St. James Episcopal Church in Prouts Neck, Maine.
Mrs. Butler is Vice President and Director of Marketing and Communications for The Wedding List. She graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia. The bride's father, Robert Murray, is a self-employed banker in Houston. Her mother, Daphne, is the Executive Director of the Rumsey Community Fund in Sacramento and her step-father, Alfred Gawthrop Jr., is a senior partner of the law firm Bolling, Walter and Gawthrop in Sacramento.
Mr. Butler is Vice President and Director of Business Development for Capital IQ in New York City. He graduated from the University of Virginia also with a B.A. in English. His father, Alfred Butler IV is a professor at The University of Virginia and his mother, Jane is an adjunct professor at The University of Virginia and a secondary education consultant.
The couple will continue living in New York City after they are married.
