Miss Carolyn Anne Shelton and Dr. William Paul Flinn were united in marriage on Saturday, May 12, 2001 at seven o'clock in the evening at Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. Doctor James Jackson officiated at the double ring ceremony with scripture readings by Mr. Matthew Mays, cousin of the bride, and Dr. Tracy Fowler. Music was provided by organist Thomas Jaber, soloist Nancy Fauber-Hoh, and the Chapelwood Handbell Ensemble. A reception followed the ceremony at the Junior League of Houston with music provided by Night Magic. On the eve of the wedding the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Texas Safari Ranch.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Lee Shelton of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Maddox and the late Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Shelton both of Palacios, Texas. The groom is the son of Judge and Mrs. Robert Kern of Sugar Land, Texas and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Uzzi of Columbus, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant gown of ivory silk-faced satin featuring a crystal beaded bodice with a full draped skirt adorned with crystal beads on the chapel length train. The bride's ensemble was complete with a chapel length veil of soft ivory illusion that is a family heirloom.
Serving as Maid of Honor was Miss Elizabeth Lynn Shelton, sister of the bride of Houston, Texas. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Kristi Merriman, sister of the groom, of Houston, Texas, Miss Christy Mays, cousin of the bride of Aspen, Colorado, Mrs. Sheri Bordelon of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Leigh Craft of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Erika Crawford and Miss Cici Meyer both of Austin, Texas.
Serving as Best Man was Mr. Antonio Criado III of Houston, Texas. Groomsmen were Terry Lee Shelton Jr., brother of the bride, Mr. Dane Merriman, brother-in-law of the groom, both of Houston, Texas, Mr. William Daryl Ray Jr. of Austin, Texas, Mr. Christopher Toland of Sugar Land, Texas, Dr. Michael Mendez of San Antonio, Texas, and Dr. Shane Simpson of Waco, Texas.
Serving as ushers were Mr. Kyle Tolland, Mr. Scott Willhite, Mr. Stephen Rimes, Dr. Kyle Friedman, Dr. Jorge Freiman all of Houston, Texas, Mr. Donald Leonetti of Missouri City, Texas, Mr. Peter Thistleton of Dallas, Texas, and Mr. John Reynolds of San Antonio, Texas.
The bride is a graduate of Memorial High School and the University of Texas in Austin and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She is currently employed with 10X Labs in Houston, Texas. The groom is a graduate of Dulles High School in Sugar Land, Texas and the University of Texas at Austin and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He graduated from the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio and is currently a resident at Baylor College of Medicine.
Following a honeymoon in Hawaii and Florida, Dr. and Mrs. Flinn will reside in Houston, Texas.
