Miss Anne Kerr McCarty and Mr. Brian Douglas Cannon were united in marriage on Saturday, May 12, 2001, at half after seven in the evening at Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas with Reverend Monsignor Donald S. Zimmerman officiating.
Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a tented reception at Brook Hollow Golf Club with dinner and dancing. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was given by the groom's mother at the Dallas Petroleum Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Justin Scott McCarty, Jr. of Dallas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Kerr and the late Colonel Robert Augustus Kerr of Dallas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Justin Scott McCarty, Sr. of Dallas. The groom is the son of Mrs. Susan Jewell Cannon of Houston and Mr. Daniel John Cannon of Las Vegas. He is the grandson of Mr. George Hiram Jewell and the late Mrs. Betty Jefferis Jewell of Houston, Mrs. George Robinson of San Mateo, California and the late Mr. Manus Joseph Cannon.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown designed by Vera Wang in ivory silk organza, a tissue organza overskirt and a chapel length train. Embroidered French lace adorned the top of the bodice and border of the skirt. She carried a bouquet of lily of the valley.Serving the bride as Matron of Honor was her sister, Mrs. Mary Kay McCarty Westwood of Billings, Montana. Serving as Maid of Honor was Miss Elizabeth Timmis McCarty of Dallas, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Leslie Maureen Cannon of Houston, sister of the groom, Mrs. Alanya Westwood Berthiaume of Austin, Miss Sarah Lockhart of Washington, D.C., and Miss Kathleen Elizabeth Perkins of Dallas. The house party included Miss Megan Kyle Bennett of San Antonio, Miss Kristen Womack Jewell, Miss Arin Melissa Dorris, Miss Kimberly Ann Taylor, of Austin, and Miss Kathryn Nicole Voyles, of Dallas. The flower girl was Miss Laura Anne Westwood, niece of the bride.
The best man was Mr. Douglas Merritt MacMahon, of San Francisco. Groomsmen were Mr. James Fletcher Murchison and Mr. Travis Riggs Winfrey, of Houston, Mr. Arthur Gerald Westwood III, of Billings, Montana, brother-in-law of the bride, Mr. Jared Clyde Jordan and Mr. Justin Geary Mapes, of Austin. Ushers were Mr. Parker Andrew Stanberry and Mr. Joshua Austin Thomas, of New York City, Mr. Brian Lee Dinerstein, Mr. David Bradley Devault, and Mr. Ryan Heine, of Dallas, and Mr. William Cory Fox, of Galveston. Master Charles Edward Westwood II, nephew of the bride served as ring bearer.
Anne attended Highland Park High School and The University of Mississippi where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Brian attended The Kinkaid School and graduated from The University of Texas where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He is currently employed by Arthur Andersen. Following a honeymoon in Hawaii, Brian and Anne will reside in Houston.
