Miss Sarah Ann Cheavens and Mr. Robert Albert Sarnelli were united in marriage on Saturday March 31st 2001 at 3 o'clock in the evening at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. The Reverend Terry Thompson and Dr. Robert M. Baird (Uncle of Bride) officiated the ceremony. Music for the ceremony was provided by St. Paul's Music Department. A reception followed at LaFontaine Ballroom, Warwick Hotel. The El Orbits provided music for the reception. Prior to the wedding a rehearsal dinner was held at Sierra Grill West.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dawson Cheavens of Houston, TX. and Durango, CO. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David A. Cheavens of Waco, TX. and Mr. and Mrs. George T. Roberts of Brighton England. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Anthony Sarnelli of Stamford, CT. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sarnelli of N.Y., N.Y. and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Buiso.
The bride's dress was from the Priscilla of Boston collection. The ivory silk satin gown with a cathedral length train also had short sleeves, v-neck and fitted waist which was accented with Alencon lace (beaded with pearls and crystals). The cathedral length veil was edged with matching lace which complemented the elegant gown.
The bride's bouquet contained Dendobium orchids, porcelana, champagne and bridal white roses with additional stephanotis which was used in the bouquets of both her mother and grandmother. Also tucked into the bouquet is lace used in her grandmother's wedding gown.
The bride's friend Christine Pickering Storms of Katy, TX served as Matron of Honor. The Bride's Attendants were Mrs. Elizabeth Bailey Cheavens of Austin, TX, sister of the bride, Mrs. Kirsten Corazzini Gomez of Ithaca, NY, Mrs. Erika Oliver Jerram of Allstson, MA, Mrs. Jennifer Layfer Parker of San Jose, CA and Mrs. Katherine Alexia Sanford of Washington, DC. Monica Kathleen Cheavens niece of the bride was the Jr. Bridesmaid.
The House Party included Ms. Linda Caire, Mrs. Joseph Cheavens, Jr., Mrs. Roman Darmer, Dr. Susan Gaynor, Mrs. Blake Hargrove, Mrs. David Hargrove, Mrs. John Hargrove, Mrs. Anthony Mogelson, Ms. Sim Ngo.
Mr. Gerald Sarnelli, Jr. of Raleigh, NC, brother of the groom served as the Best Man. The Groomsmen were David Darren Bratcher of San Antonio, TX, Lee Walter Chatham of Houston, TX, Brian Madison Davis of Galveston, TX, Christopher Michael Liberti of Middleton, CT, and John Frances Storms, II of Katy, TX.
The ringbearer was Brian Allen Cheavens. The Ushers were Dr. Robert D. Baird, Mark R. Cheavens, Joseph D. Cheavens, Jr., David M. Hargrove, John M. Hargrove, M. Black Hargrove, Brian H. Hargrove and D. Kristian Kvols. Brothers and cousins of the bride.
The bride is a graduate of St. John's School in Houston, TX and of Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, PA. while attending college she was Junior and Senior Representative to the Bryn Mawr Board of Trustees. After receiving her undergraduate degree, the bride attended The University of Houston School of Architecture and received her Masters of Architecture. She graduated cum laude in 1997. The bride is presently an intern at Architectural Firm of Jackson & Ryan Architect.
The groom is a graduate of Stamford High School in Stamford, CT and The University of Connecticut where he played on the Lacrosse team. He attended The University of Houston School of Architecture and received his Masters of Architecture in 1996. The groom is now employed as a Project Manager at Murphy Mears Architects.
Following a honeymoon in Maui, Hawaii the couple will reside in Houston, Texas.
