Miss Shelley Renee McClain and Mr. Eric Neil Stone were united in marriage on Saturday, March 31, 2001, at four o'clock in the afternoon at Second Baptist Church. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Reverend Lee Maxey. Musical selections were performed by Encore Strings Quartet and trumpeter Vaughn Pederson. A reception followed at The Westlake Club, with music by Nobody's Fool. Decorations were provided by Suzanne Fly of Let it Fly Events. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Bistro Vino.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford "Corky" Hockett of Missouri City, Texas and Doctor and Mrs. Daniel R. McClain of Fulshear, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Ms. Virginia Baca Carlson and the late Mr. Cleo Baca of Dickinson, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. R. B. McClain of League City, Texas.
The Groom is the son of Ms. Ana Stone and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Stone all of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of Ms. Mary Jo Betncourt and the late Mr. Tony Betncourt also of Houston and Mr. Delton Stone and the late Mrs. Ellen Stone of Lufkin, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents, and escorted by her father, the bride selected an elegant gown of ivory organza designed by Vera Wang of New York. The romantic, sculpted strapless gown featured a duchess silk wave border and back button detail which cascaded softly onto the trumpet shaped chapel length train. To further compliment her gown, the bride wore a tiara adorned with Austrian crystals and a double layered elbow length illusion veil bordered in silk satin, both custom designed by Regalia of Boston. The bride carried a radius shaped bouquet of white French tulips with silk ribbon and a lace handkerchief made from her mother's wedding dress. The brides' attendants wore two-piece gowns with strapless, fitted bodice and A-line, floor-length skirts fashioned from periwinkle organza and taffeta and carried petite, round bouquets of coral tulips, sprigged with tiny blue delphinium blossoms.
Mrs. Andrea Tramonte Girolamo of Sugar Land served as Matron of Honor. The Bride's Attendants were Miss April Christine Kimble of San Antonio, Mrs. Heather Pennington McDaniel and Mrs. Mia Schneider Stephenson both of Houston, and Miss Lisa Traylor of Simonton, Texas. Members of the house party were Miss Brittany Stone, sister of the groom, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Miss Amy and Melissa Fox, cousins of the groom, both of Kingwood, Texas. Ms. Dianna Hoke, cousin of the bride, of Friendswood, Texas served as Family Coordinator.
Serving the groom as best man was Mr. Kevin Patrick Carew of Dallas, Texas. Groomsmen were Mr. Adam Christopher Brashier, Mr. Michael Christopher Draudt, Mr. Bryan Cecil McDaniel all of Houston, Texas and Mr. Anthony Blane Palermo of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ushers were Mr. Jason Tyler McClain, Mr. Mathew Richard Clark, and Mr. Adam Lewis Clark, brothers of the bride, all of Houston.
The Bride is a graduate of B.F. Terry High School in Rosenberg, Texas and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management from Texas Tech University. She is a member of Phi Beta Pi Sorority. Shelley is a sales and marketing representative for DMI & Associates Inc.
The groom is a graduate of Jersey Village High School in Houston, Texas. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing. He is a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Eric is an Industrial Sales Representative for Porter Cable Power Tools.
Following a honeymoon to the Bahamas, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Neil Stone will reside in Houston.
