Miss Shani Rae Broderick and Mr. Charles Bartley Matheson were married on Saturday, March 17th at 6:30 in the evening at Benitez Chapel at Episcopal High School in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by The Reverend Martin J. Bastian. Organist Pat Goodwin and a string quartet provided music for the ceremony with a solo performed by Mr. Don Rauscher. A bag piper led the processional at the close playing "Highland Cathedral" to lead the newly married couple out the isle. A reception followed at Lakewood Yacht Club, Seabrook, TX, with music by Nobody's Fool. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's family hosted a rehearsal dinner at Masraff's on Post Oak.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lawrence Broderick of Friendswood, Texas and Ms. Patricia Rae McGlathery of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She is the grand-daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mac McGlathery of Pearland, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. D. Robert Broderick of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The groom is the son of Mrs. Jo Helen Matheson of San Antonio, Texas and the late Glenn Bartley Matheson of San Antonio, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Herder Jr. of Weimar, Texas, Mrs. Rowena Gideon of Karnes City, Texas, and Mrs. Winona Matheson and the late Mr. Bartley Matheson of Beeville, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant gown designed by Jade Daniels of New York. The off the shoulder neckline featured a design of flowers of silk satin on European lace indented with pearls and sequins, overlaid onto the upper fitted bodice. The full skirt of silk face satin fell from a dropped waist in inverted pleats with a chapel length train gracing the back of the gown accented with bridal buttons all down the back of the gown. The ensemble was complemented with an ivory enamel tiara designed with ivory flowers, pearls and crystals under soft veils of ivory illusion that fell to the floor. The bride carried a cascade of roses, lilies, orchids, dogwood and calla lilies with a touch of heather and bells of Ireland. Darrell Gorski of Village Greenery and Flowers designed all flowers.
Miss Alexandra Randolph Beveridge of Houston, Texas served as the Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids included Mrs. Jennifer Ruth Beck, Miss Barbara Brooke Betts, both of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Camille Cain Tollett, Mrs. Kelli Matheson Waddle, both of Sugar Land, Texas, Mrs. Jennifer Broderick Engelby of Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Kimberly Matheson Mangus of Boerne, Texas. The bridesmaids wore a sage, two-piece, floor length gown designed by Waters and Waters; each carried a unique bouquet of white flowers and greenery chosen out of the bride's bouquet. Members of the house party included Mrs. Kimberly Walters Daves of Akron, Ohio, Ms. Laurie Kristin Faught of Austin, Texas, Mrs. Ginger Minga Owen of Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. Machelle Caudle Williams of Charlotte, South Carolina, and Miss Stephanie Anne Johnston of Sugar Land, Texas, Miss Melissa Kennard and Miss Staci Leigh Stewart both of Houston, Texas.
Mr. Larry Brown of Schulenburg, Texas, served as Best Man. Groomsmen included Mr. William Beauchamp of Portland, Texas, Mr. Keith Darrow of Houston, Texas, Mr. Adam Montgomery of Hempstead, Texas, Mr. Scott Gilmore of George West, Texas, Mr. Anthony Mangus of Boerne, Texas and Mr. Rodney Waddle of Sugar Land, Texas. Ushers included Mr. Gary Adamek and Mr. Greg Frank both of Schulenburg, Texas, Mr. Stuart Beken of Houston, Texas, Mr. Roger Creager of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mr. John Gilmore of George West, Texas, Mr. Brian Johnston of Sugar Land, Texas, Mr. clay Jordan of Duncan, Oklahoma and Mr. Gene Miles of New Ulm, Texas. Miss Hanna Bobst served as flower girl and Christopher and Matthew Mangus, nephews of the groom, served as ring bearers.
After graduating from Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, the bride received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Mississippi where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. she is currently a second grade teacher at Oak Forest Elementary School in Houston.
After graduating from Weimar High School in Weimar, Texas, the groom received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Economics from Texas A & M University. He is currently an Account Executive with The Houston Showroom.
Following a honeymoon on the Island of St. Barthelemy, French West Indies, the couple will reside in Katy, Texas.
