Miss Elizabeth Marie Ott and Mr. Daniel Rogers Herndon, Jr. were united in marriage on Saturday, March 3, 2001 at seven-thirty in the evening at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. Dr. James W. Moore performed the celebration and blessing of the double ring ceremony. Music was provided by Rob Landes organist, Dan Shipman Trumpeter, and Accent Chamber Music. Soloist was Leigh Shipman. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at their home catered by Jackson & Company with music by Grady Gaines and the Texas Upsetters. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at River Oaks Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Alan Ott of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Jean Wilcox Ferguson and the late Bill Ferguson of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Marie Perkins Ott and the late Mr. Ellsworth Alan Ott of Conroe, Texas. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Rogers Herndon of Shreveport, Louisiana. He is the grandson of Mr. Donald William Weir, Sr. and the late Mrs. Lola Bennett Weir of Shreveport, Louisiana and the late Mr. and Mrs. David Allen Herndon Jr. of Shreveport, Louisiana.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a dress designed for her by Lisette Lux Haute Couture. The strapless Italian mikado silk sheath had an overlay of silk satin organza that was hand-embroidered and beaded in lily motifs. The gown and circular veil were trimmed in a satin bias. The bride carried an antique silver tussy mussy filled with sweet peas, stephanotis, and lilacs and an heirloom sterling silver prayer book attached with silk ribbon.
Serving as Maid of Honor was Miss Tracy Lynn Dillee of Atlanta. Bridesmaids were Miss Lola Bennett Herndon, sister of the groom, of Shreveport, Miss Tara Logan McNeill of New York City, Miss Courtney Ann Gay of Los Angeles, Mrs. Anne Scott Ebert of Galveston, Texas, Miss Alexandra Misha Siegel, Mrs. Brandi Katherine Wachel, and Miss Stephanie Ann Macey, all of Houston. Members of the bride's House Party were Miss Effie McCandless of San Francisco, Mrs. Heather Watson Wilson of Connecticut, Miss Jennifer Marie Henry of Houston, and Miss Amy Patton Miller and Mrs. Katherine Gibbs Lewis, both of Dallas.
The best man was Mr. Daniel Rogers Herndon, father of the groom, from Shreveport. The groomsmen were Mr. David Alan Ott, Jr., brother of the bride, Mr. Donald William Weir III, cousin of the groom, of New York City, Mr. Beau James Box of Baton Rouge, Mr. Anthony Phelan Carmody of Shreveport, Mr. Allen Hunter Ladd of Mobile, Alabama, and Mr. Christopher Carlton Phillips and Mr. George Franklin Speicher, both of Houston.
Elizabeth graduated from the University of Texas in 1996. She is currently finishing an MBA from Duke University, and will be employed by El Paso Energy upon completion of her degree.
Rogers graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1990. He is currently employed by Enron.
Following their honeymoon, Elizabeth and Rogers will reside in Houston, Texas.
