Dr. Melissa Dale Wadler and Dr. David Mitchell Bloome were united in marriage on March 10, 2001 at seven thirty in the evening at the Omni Hotel in Houston. The ceremony was officiated by Rabbi David Whiman. Given in marriage by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. David Wadler of Houston, the bride was escorted by her father. She wore a candlelight strapless gown by Givenchy. Dinner and dancing followed, with music provided by Eclipse. On the evening before the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents, Dr. and Mrs. Michael Bloome, at Tony's Ballroom. Melissa's grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Norman Keen of Waco and Mr. and Mrs. Irving Wadler of Houston. David's grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Ben DeLott and the late Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bloome.
Miss Lindsay Brooke Wadler and Miss Elizabeth Anne Wadler served as their sister's Maids of Honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Vivian Violeta Benrey, Mrs. Sara Elizabeth Bloome, Miss Jennifer Beth Lewis, and Miss Colby Frazier Martin. Junior Bridesmaids were Miss Allison Elyse Drell and Miss Laura Anne Drell. Members of the house party included Miss Denise Robin Bloome, Miss Kimberly Janelle Broder, Miss Cynthia Jill Celnik, Miss Tille Anne Fowler, Miss Gina Michelle Hanes, Miss Laura Hulsey Kelsey, Miss Lynn Suzanne Rosenthal, Dr. Allison Cox Strnad, Miss Brooke Denise White, and Mrs. Lindsay Greenfield Whitman.
Mr. Jerrad Douglas Bloome served as his brother's Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. David Brian Barnett, Dr. Joseph Kaysing Newcomer, Dr. David Andrew Strawman, Master Jarrett Alan Wadler, and Mr. Michael Adam Zakin. Master Brian Eric Perlman was a Junior Groomsman. Ushers were Mr. Jonathan Merritt Berke, Mr. Bradley Claiborne Kates, Dr. Timothy Robert McAdams, Dr. Ted Lewis Schwarting, and Dr. Andrew John Veitch. The flower girl was Miss Hallie Elizabeth Perlman and the ring bearer was Master Drew Evan Perlman.
Melissa is a graduate of Kinkaid High School and Emory University where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Delta Delta Delta sorority. She received a Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas Dental Branch. She will return to the University of Texas Dental Branch for a master's degree in Orthodontics.
David is a graduate of St. John's High School and Emory University where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Nu fraternity. He received his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He is completing his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of New Mexico and will begin a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery in Houston this summer.
Following a wedding trip to Nevis the couple will reside in Houston.
