Melissa Ann McKeithan and David Maresh Burke were united in marriage on Saturday, January 27, 2001 at seven thirty o'clock in the evening in a candlelight ceremony at Grace Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas. The Reverend Doctor David McKechnie and Reverend Brian Zinnamon, S. J. of New York City officiated in the double ring ceremony. Organ music was provided by Doctor Rhonda Furr and Houston Grand Opera Soloist, Chris Holloway. Scripture Readings were given by Mr. Ferdinand Khater and Mr. Shane Walsh. A reception followed the ceremony at the Junior League of Houston with music by Grady Gaines and the Texas Upsetters. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom at Brennan's.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Ralph McKeithan, Jr. of Houston. Grandparents of the bride are the late Reverend Doctor and Mrs. Charles Edward Smith, Sr. of Shawnee, Oklahoma and the late Mr. and Mrs. David Ralph McKeithan, Sr. of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. David Tyng Burke of Houston. Grandparents of the groom are the late Mr. and Mrs. Marcell Paul Maresh of Edna, Texas and Mrs. John Moore Burke, Jr. and the late Mr. John Moore Burke, Jr. of Tyler, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a regal ivory peau de soie gown designed by Christos. The fitted bodice which featured reembroidered hand run Alencon lace and delicate seed pearls featured a full length skirt softly gathered, sweeping into a full, graceful cathedral train. Her cathedral length veil of French illusion worn by her sister on her wedding day was held together by a regal crown of seed pearls.
Serving as Matron of Honor was Mary Lynn McKeithan Khater of Houston sister of the bride. Megan Louise McKeithan sister of the bride of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were, Michelle Burke Carmona of Austin, Elena Burke Walsh of Houston, sisters of the groom and Kristin Knodel Martin of Houston. Members of the House Party were Laurie Erdeljac Boldrick of Midland, Texas, Shannan Terry of Beaver Creek, Colorado, Stephanie Murphy Sides, Michelle Clapp Dunwell, Caroline Whitehead Hildreth, Mary Beth Swallen Winter and Beverly Burford McConn of Houston. The flower girl was Hayward Catherine Hildreth, god-daughter of the bride. Serving as Ring Bearers were Nicholas David Khater and Noah McKeithan Khater, nephews of the bride.
Serving his brother as best man was Christopher Tyng Burke of Houston. Groomsmen were Louis Hamilton, Jim Kennett and Stephen Hartwig of Houston and Keith Harmon of Alexandria Virginia. Ushers were Ferdinand Khater, brother in law of the bride, Shawn Walsh, brother in law of the groom and Paul Jordan of Austin.
The bride attended Robert E. Lee High School in Houston and the University of Texas in Austin. She is employed by the Finger Companies and is an active member of the Junior League of Houston.
The groom attended Strake Jesuit in Houston, University of Texas in Austin where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Houston. He is Marketing Manager of Leedo Cabinets.
Following a honeymoon in Italy, the couple will reside in Houston.
