Amy Elaine Herrmann and Steven Marcus Partida were married on Saturday, January 13, 2001, 4:30 p.m., at the beautiful Carambola Beach Resort on the island of St. Croix in the United States Virgin Islands. The ceremony was held on a grassy knoll overlooking the beach with the beautiful Caribbean Sea in the background. The Rev. Wilfred Daniel, Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in Christiansted, St. Croix, officiated. Following the ceremony, a dinner-reception was held in the Mahogany Room at Carambola Resort. Code 9 Band provided dancing and entertainment. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a beach barbecue dinner at Gentle Winds Resort with island music provided by Dem Boys.
Amy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Joseph Herrmann, Jr. of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Wallace Canion, Mrs. Joy Herrmann and the late Mr. William Herrmann, all of Houston.
Steven is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cruz Partida of Houston. He is the grandson of Mrs. Estefana Partida and the late Mr. Tomas Partida of New Braunfels, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Victor and Carlota Garza of Houston, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an Italian Matte Satin dress embellished with floral embroidery, pearls and iridescent sequins. The sleeveless dress had a scoop neckline with an empire waist of embroidered and beaded satin. The A-line skirt was trimmed at the hem with beaded embroidered, and satin-covered buttons lead down the back all the way to the end of the semicathedral train.
The bride's sister, Allison Herrmann Torres was maid of honor. Mr. Cruz Partida, father of the groom, was best man. The flower girl was Emily Ann Torres, niece of the bride. The ring bearer was Kyle Tysinger, nephew of the groom. The scripture was read by Mrs. Rita Tysinger, sister of the groom.
Following a honeymoon trip to St. Lucia, the bride and groom will make their home in Houston.
