The Le Grand Salon de la Comtesse of La Colombe d'Or was the setting for the marriage and wedding celebration of Miss Kendra L. Brown and Mr. Reginald L. Mhoon. The candlelight, double ring ceremony was officiated by the Reverend William Lawson on July 21, 2000, at half after six o'clock in the evening. The Dave Zeger String Quartet provided music for the service. A formal dinner and dance followed the ceremony.The wedding rehearsal dinner was hosted by Mr. & Mrs. Patrick Falcon in their Memorial area home on the eve of the wedding.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. Linda E. Brown and Mr. Kenneth L. Brown of Houston. She is the granddaughter of the late Reverend and Mrs. William Ellison of Austin, Texas, and Mrs. Lovenia Brown of Galveston, Texas.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Barbara A. Fleming and Mr. Herron Hall of Chicago, Illinois. He is the grandson of Mrs. Mabeline Mhoon and Mr. Robert Mhoon and Mrs. Venita Hall of Chicago, Illinois.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a Jerelyn Couture strapless gown of ecru satin faced silk organza, and intricately re-embroidered, delicately beaded Italian tulle. The pleated bouffant skirt, train and bodice were bordered with walnut silk organza overlayed with re-embroidered tulle. Wearing a classic below the shoulder length veil, the bride carried a clustered cream, ecru, and ivory bouquet of roses. Bridesmaids wore elegant, floor-length, off shoulder, silk crepe custom dresses and carried a pomander of mixed shades of off-white roses.
Mrs. Lakittah Eagleton served as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids included her three sisters, Kecia L. Brown, M.D. of Dallas, Texas, Miss Kaylan Brown, and Miss Korie Brown, both of Houston, Texas and Miss NeKisha Griffin of Missouri City, Texas.
The groom's brother, Mr. Brian Fleming of Chicago, Illinois, served as Best Man. The Groomsmen were Mr. Michael Fleming of Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Marcus Gordon of Houston, Texas, Mr. Gene Morris of Peoria, Illinois, and Mr. Jannard Rainey of College Park, Georgia.
The bride is a 1994 graduate of Incarnate Word Academy in Houston and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in statistics at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
The groom is a 1992 graduate of Bowlingbrook High School in Bowlingbrook, Illinois and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Grambling State University. He is currently enrolled in the Masters in Education program at Prairie View A&M University.
Ushers were Mr. Jason Brown of Northridge, California, Mr. Blaise Falcon, Mr. Perric Falcon, Kevin Harrison, and Trent Dennis of Houston.
After a honeymoon in Bora Bora and Tahiti, the couple will make their home in College Station, Texas.
