Miss Amy Elizabeth Horton and Mr. Douglas Kevin Clemons were united in marriage Saturday, July 29, 2000 at seven thirty in the evening at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Reverend Terry Jay Thompson officiated the double ring ceremony. Music was provided by Encore Strings; organist, Ken Coleman; and trumpeter, Jim Vassalo. A reception followed at The Plaza Club with music by The Next Level. The groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Brennan's on the eve of the wedding.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Simms Horton, of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Raymond Waller, of Nashville and the late Carleen Waller and Mr. William Horton and the late Mrs. Pauline Horton.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Louis Clemons, of Houston. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Albert Howe, of Austin and the late Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Vaughn Clemons, of Houston.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Amy wore an elegant gown of ivory silk-faced satin designed by Lazaro of New York. The sculpted bodice featured a deep scoop neckline accented by double spaghetti straps of satin cord. The bodice was fashioned from an elaborate design of embroidery with delicate beading highlighted by metallic thread at the waist. From the natural waistline fell a full box pleated skirt which swept into a cathedral length train. To complete her ensemble Amy chose a customdesigned tiara by Debra Moreland of Paris Tiaras from which multi-layers of veiling flowed, accented by delicate crystals and finished with a round satin cord by Karen Fenaroli of Regalia Veils. She carried a round pave' bouquet consisting of white, cream, and light color roses and stephanotis.
Mrs. Kimberly Schultz of Lebanon, N.H. served her sister as matron of honor. Miss Andrea SoRelle of Houston served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Miss Kara Klevenhagen of Houston, Miss Jamie Komiss of Chicago, Miss Regay Milberger of Houston, Miss Shelley Radabaugh of Houston, Miss Marcy Rinehart of Houston and Miss Molly Williamson of Houston. Miss Maggie Beery of Washington, D.C., Miss Allyson Brown of Houston and Miss Elizabeth Tekell of Houston were members of the house party.
Serving as best men were the groom's brother, Mr. Christopher Clemons of Houston and Mr. Chad White of Houston. Groomsmen included Mr. Trey Able of Houston, Mr. Jeremy Davis of Houston, Mr. Foster Green of Pecos, Mr. Rob Hyatt of Houston, Mr. David Mallia of Houston and Mr. Colby Wood of Houston. Serving as ushers were Mr. Zack Hawthorne of Beaumont, Mr. Greg Sudbury of Dallas, Mr. Michael Wallis and Mr. Ryan White of Houston, and Mr. Stacy Young, of Austin.
The bride is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She is a Power Settlements Specialist with Enron.
The groom is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School. He earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He currently is a third year student at South Texas School of Law. He is a Briefing Clerk at the law firm of Schwartz, Junell, Campbell, and Oathout, L.L.P.
Following a honeymoon to St. John's and Puerto Rico, the couple will reside in Houston.
