Miss Rebecca Elaine Straub and Mr. Clint Allen Kainer were united in marriage on Saturday, August 5, 2000 at six o'clock in the evening at Lakewood United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Dr. Jerry House of Crockett, Texas and Reverend Richard Gould of El Campo, Texas, both family friends. Music was provided by The Keynote Chambers Players, Joseph Painter organist, and Mr. and Mrs. John Priddy, vocalists. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Rainbow Lodge. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Pappasitos.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank James Straub of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. Horace Milton Cardwell and the late Edith Speegle Cardwell both of Lufkin, Texas and Mrs. Margaret Straub and the late Frank Huston Straub of Port Arthur, Texas.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kainer of El Campo, Texas. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lucian Kainer, Mrs. Dolores Reed and the late Mr. James Raymond Reed, Jr. all of El Campo, Texas.
Given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant gown of ivory satin-faced silk organza and duchesse satin designed by Vera Wang of New York. To complete her ensemble, the bride chose a custom veil designed by Karen Fenaroli of Regalia Veils. The multi-layered cathedral length veil edged in a bias band of champagne satin to match the gown was complimented with a tiara of pearls and crystals.
Miss Amy Lynn Jones of Dallas served as Maid of Honor. Miss Amy Lynn Bernie of Dallas, Dr. Melissa Ann Kainer Erwin, sister of the groom of Austin, Miss Holly Lynn Hamilton and Miss Courtney Lynn Lyons of Houston, and Mrs. Erin Maureen Roark of Ft. Worth served as bridesmaids. Members of the Houseparty included the cousins of the groom, Misses Amy Michelle Byers, Ginger Maureen Duncan and Susan Elaine Hermansen. Childhood friends Misses Meredith Joy Cleneay, Natalie Evans Cleneay and Nicole Nance Cleneay also served in the houseparty and provided readings.
Brother of the groom, Mr. Brian Reed Kainer served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. Craig Anthony Dorotik, Mr. Dustin Daniel Ellis and Mr. Charles Ellwood Hermansen, cousin of the groom, all of El Campo, Mr. Thomas Bradley Straub, brother of the bride, of Dallas and Mr. Matthew Wayland Watkins of College Station. Serving as ushers were cousin of the groom, Mr. Tyson Kainer Duncan and brother-inlaw of the groom, Mr. Edgar Frank Erwin, both of El Campo.
The bride is a graduate of Cypress Creek High School and Texas A&M University where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture. She is a member of Chi Omega Sorority. In the fall she will pursue a Masters of Landscape Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
The groom is a graduate of El Campo High School and Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture. He will be a practicing landscape architect in Philadelphia.
After a honeymoon in Jamaica, Mr. and Mrs. Kainer will reside in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
