Miss Ashley Ann Crosby and Mr. Robert Thomas Belden were united in marriage on Saturday, May 27, 2000, at five o'clock in the afternoon at First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville, Texas. Marriage vows were exchanged in a ceremony performed by Dr. Thomas W. Curry, minister of First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville and The Reverend Robert Kaylor of Canton, Ohio. Music was provided by organist, Ms. Terri Henneke-Theis and two bagpipers led by Mr. Harrell Sutherland. Following the ceremony, the wedding party was led out of the sanctuary by the bagpipers. As they left the church the bagpipers played the Notre Dame Fight Song. A garden reception was held on the grounds of the LDBrinkman Corporate Headquarters and Art Foundation in Kerrville. The wedding party was greeted at the reception by the bagpipers playing The Eyes of Texas. Music during the reception was provided by the Oh So Good Band of San Antonio. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville. On the morning of the wedding the bride's father hosted a golf tournament at Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course in Fredericksburg, Texas.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Dean Evans of Houston and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Caldwell Crosby of San Antonio. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Faught of Houston and Mrs. Frances Lucille Crosby of Houston and the late William Vincent Lee Crosby of Houston.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Freeman Belden of Canton, Ohio. He is the grandson of Mrs. Rose Keniray of Canton, Ohio and the late Bernard Keniray and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Belden of Canton, Ohio.
Given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown designed by Tomasina. The graceful strapless satin gown was trimmed with Austrian Crystal on the bodice and on the satin border and chapel length train. Her cathedral length veil with a tiara of Austrian Crystal completed the bride's ensemble.
Best friend of the bride, Miss Sara Douglass Daly, served as Maid of Honor. On June 10, Ashley did the honors for Miss Daly as her Matron of Honor in Miss Daly's marriage to Mr. Clark Raymond Edgecomb of Houston. Miss Samantha Leigh Wakely of San Antonio and Miss Kendall Faye Crosby of Silver Spring, Maryland served as Flower Girls. Miss Julia Ann Belden of Canton, Ohio and Miss Christine Marie Belden of Evanston, Illinois, sisters of the groom, served as Bridesmaid.
Mr. James Belden of Evanston, Illinois, brother of the groom, served as Best Man. James Michael Wakely and Lukin McConnell Wakely of San Antonio served as Ring Bearers. Mr. William Todd Crosby of San Antonio and Mr. Craig Caldwell Crosby of Silver Spring, Maryland, brothers of the bride, served as groomsmen. Ushers included Mr. Bersen Chou of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Taiwan; Mr. Thanh Do of Des Plains, Illinois and Taiwan; Mr. John Gliba of Canton, Ohio; Mr. Phil Hanna of Canton, Ohio; Mr. Eric Milavickas of Chicago, Illinois; Mr. Steve Nam of Washington, DC; and Mr. Mike Slaski of Canton, Ohio.
The Bride is a graduate of Churchill High School in San Antonio and Texas Tech University where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. She is a Neighborhood Development Specialist with the STEPS Program of Wayne County Ohio. She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha.
The Groom graduated from Central Catholic High School in Canton, Ohio and The University of Notre Dame where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Finance. He is with International Paper in Wooster, Ohio. The bride and groom met while serving in the U.S. Peace Corps in Jamaica.
Following a mid-July honeymoon cruise on the Baltic Sea with stops in Sweden, Finland and Russia, the couple is at home in Wooster, Ohio.
