Miss Ashlyn Alexandra Coleman and Mr. Gary Lynn Tankersley were united in marriage on Saturday, August 5, 2000 at ten o'clock in the morning at Saint Paul's Methodist Church in Houston. Reverend Charles Ruehl performed the candlelight double ring ceremony. The scripture reading was given by Mr. Camm Lary, III.

Following the ceremony, a wedding brunch was held at the Warwick Hotel with music provided by the Paul English Jazz Trio. On the eve of the wedding, parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Bistro Vino.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Gene Coleman of Clear Lake and the granddaughter of Mr. Gene Alexander of Clear Lake, formerly of Beaumont, Texas and the late Evelyn Alexander and J.L and Mary Coleman of Beaumont. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Tankersley of Houston. He is the grandson of the late William and Lettie Palmertree of Clarksdale, Mississippi and the late Fred and Mossie Tankersley of Memphis, Tennessee.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Ashlyn wore a strapless sheath accented with Alencon lace that was designed by Christos of New York. The chapel length veil was held in place by a tiara of crystals and pearls. Ashlyn carried a bouquet of Tineka roses and white hydrangea.

Serving as Matron of Honor was Susan Coleman of Dallas. The Maid of Honor was Melissa McGee of Dallas. Bridesmaids were April Wharton of Dallas, Sarah Akhtar of Fort Worth, Deana Haygood of Houston, Lisa Hanks of Houston, and Andi Lane of Houston. Serving in the houseparty were Joanna Burns of Dallas, and Stephanie Laubenberg of Houston.

John Keith of Washington D.C. served as bestman. Groomsmen were Bill Barnes of Houston; Tyler Anderson of Vero Beach, Florida; Bob Hargrove of Round Rock; Frank Guzman of Cypress; Dr. Matt Crawford of Lansing, Michigan and Jarrett Coleman of Dallas.

Ushers were Joe Bingham of Kingsville; Todd Martin of Dallas; Dr. Rick Ngo of Austin; and Tim Revels of Houston.

Ashlyn and Gary are 1995 graduates of the University of Texas at Austin. Ashlyn is also a 1998 Honors graduate of the University of Texas School of Law. Ashlyn is a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Gary is a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.

After a Honeymoon in Maui and Kauai, Hawaii, the couple will reside in Houston. Ashlyn will return to the law firm of Vinson and Elkins as an attorney and Gary is an executive with Manulife Financial.
