Mr. Charles Cullen Childress

Miss Lesley Lorraine Conte and Mr. Charles Cullen Childress were united in marriage on Saturday, June 17, 2000 at four o'clock in the afternoon at the St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans, Louisiana. Father James Gaunt officiated the double ring ceremony. Music was provided by the Brother Martin Boys' Choir; organist, Mrs. Michelle Starnes, and trumpeter, Mr. Gary Benoit. Readings were given by Mrs. Allison Pappas Martin and Mr. Taylor David Thaggard. A reception followed at the Royal Orleans with music by Deacon John. The mother of the bride hosted a luncheon for the Bridal Party at Commander's Palace on the day before the wedding. The groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Bella Luna on the eve of the wedding.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Craig Vance Bradford of Montgomery, Texas and Doctor Robert Salvador Conte of Sugar Land, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. William Francis Bozeman and the late Mr. William Francis Bozeman of Metairie, Louisiana, and Mrs. Salvador Anthony Conte and the late Mr. Salvador Anthony Conte, also of Metairie.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Benton Childress of Beaumont, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Joe Henry Childress and the late Mr. Joe Henry Childress of Beaumont, Texas, and Mrs. Charles Herman Sparenberg and the late Mr. Charles Herman Sparenberg of Austin, Texas.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride chose a strapless gown designed by Givenchy of New York. The silk organza gown featured an empire waist complete with delicate beading and embroidery. Covered bridal buttons accented the back bodice to the hem of the train. To complement her ensemble, the bride chose a headpiece designed exclusively for her, featuring clustered pearls and Austrian crystals. She carried a bouquet of white Calla Lilies, bound by a sterling and crystal Rosary, once belonging to her maternal great grandmother.

Mrs. Kimberly Conte Passey of Midlothian, Texas served her sister as matron of honor. Miss Alice Ann Price of Houston served her friend as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Miss Melissa Jane Floeter of Dallas, Texas; Miss Jill Melanie Gachman, Mrs. Blake Childress Kunetka, sister of the groom, and Miss Stephanie Renee Reaves, all of Houston; Miss Emily Suzanne Brooks and Miss Amie Rebecca Robinson, both of New York City, New York. Serving as honor attendants were Miss Anne Marie Neslage of Dallas, Texas; Miss Susanna Ruth Hancock, Miss Bryan Ashley Hill, Mrs. Allison Pappas Martin, and Miss Rosemary Elizabeth Paxton Ramsey, all of Houston and Miss Emily Helton Bozeman, Miss Jessie Leigh Bozeman, and Miss Erin Elizabeth Geyer, cousins of the bride, all of New Orleans, Louisiana. Miss Corinne Conte Passey, niece of the bride, of Midlothian, Texas, served as Flower Girl.

Serving as best men were Mr. Charles Benton Childress, father of the groom, of Beaumont, Texas and Mr. Matthew Benton Childress, brother of the groom, of London, England. Groomsmen included Mr. James Rex Lemert, Jr. of Austin; Mr. Craig Wood Kinsel of Beaumont, Texas; Mr John Costello Pritchett of Bullard, Texas; Mr. Darrell Lee Hernandez, Mr. Peter Davidson McGuire, and Mr. William Jeffries Montgomery, all of Dallas, Texas, and Mr. William Keith Kunetka of Houston. Serving as Ushers were Mr. Corby Lee McWilliams of Austin, Texas; Mr. Craig Allen Jones and Mr. Taylor David Thaggard, both of Dallas, Texas; Mr. Edward Miles Ireson of Houston, and Mr. Blake Alan Bergstrom, cousin of the groom, of Lubbock, Texas.

The bride is a graduate of St. Agnes Academy in Houston. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Univisity of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She is a Senior Business Analyst with Cayenta in San Diego, California

The groom is a graduate of Westbrook High School in Beaumont, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration, both from the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. The groom is a Product Manager with Kinzan in San Diego, California.

Following a honeymoon to Little Dix Bay, Virgin Gorda, the couple will reside in San Diego, California.
