Miss Susan Elizabeth Thompson and Mr. Brad Alan Turcotte were united in marriage on Saturday, June 3, 2000, at seven o'clock in the evening at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. The Reverend R. Lee McKenzie officiated the double ring ceremony. Music for the ceremony was provided by organist Bob Bennett and Accent Chamber Music. A reception followed at The Junior League of Houston. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's mother hosted a rehearsal dinner at Las Alamedas.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Leslie Thompson, Jr., of Houston. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lee Porter and the late Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Leslie Thompson, Sr.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Douglas MacArthur Turcotte of San Marcos, Texas, and the late Mr. Douglas MacArthur Turcotte. He is the grandson of the late Mrs. Mildred Stallones.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory silk satin gown designed by Vera Wang. The sleeveless halter style bodice was accented with Romanoff embroidery, pearls and crystals, and the full skirt swept into a cathedral length train. The bride carried a Biedermier natural stem bouquet of Vendella, Osiana and Surprise Spray roses. Bridesmaids wore floor length midnight blue satin gowns designed by Vera Wang.
Miss Elizabeth Louise Moore of Houston served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Elizabeth Hutcheson Carrell and Miss Stephanie Kate Miller of Houston, Miss Gina Marie Maggi and Miss Amy Lee Ridlehuber of Dallas, and Miss Emily Borden Witt of Austin. House Party attendants were Miss Megan Elizabeth Dierker and Miss Alison MacKenna Roberts of Houston, and Miss Courtney Nicole Dreyer and Mrs. Courtney Hollyfield Houston of Austin.
Mr. Mark Douglas Turcotte of San Marcos, Texas, served his brother as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. Jason Lee McCarty and Mr. Joe Wilson of San Marcos, Mr. Cory Jay Gierman and Mr. Glenn Perry Noblit of Nashville, Tennessee, and Mr. Jeremy Ryan Bingham of Houston. Ushers were Mr. Lance Taylor Becker and Mr. Michael Shane Harrell of San Marcos, Mr. Robert Kendall Evans and Mr. John Russell Lowery of Carrizo Springs, Texas, and Mr. Kenneth Scott Smith of Dallas.
The bride is a graduate of The Kinkaid School and a cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. The groom is a graduate of San Marcos Baptist Academy and Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he received a Bachelor of Business degree in Music Business and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and the Belmont Men's Golf Team.
The couple will honeymoon in Lake Louise, Canada.
