Miss Kristin Renee Johnson and Mr. Robert Ross Stewart were united in marriage on Saturday, October 23, 1999 at four o'clock in the afternoon at St. Michael Catholic Church, Houston, Texas. Father Jack Dinkins celebrated the double ring ceremony, with music by Dan Shipman, trumpeter; Leigh Shipman, soloist; and the Avanti String Quartet. A reception followed at the Houston Country Club, with music by The Big Picture. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Brennan's.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey R. Johnson of Missouri City. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Failla, of Houston and Mrs. Wilma L. Johnson and the late Mr. J. R. Johnson of Missouri City. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Jim Stewart, III of Houston. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wise and Mr. and Mrs. C. Jim Stewart, II, both of Houston.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a couture gown designed for her by Lazaro of New York. The gown was fashioned in diamond white silk mikado, accented by re-embroidered alencon lace flowers highlighted by delicate sead pearls.
Miss Shelley Johnson, of Houston, served her sister as maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Laura Canion; Miss Leslie Carrigan, cousin of the groom; Mrs. Natalie Stinson; Miss Carlen Wall; and Mrs. Alicia White all of Houston; Miss Leigh Wittenbraker, and Miss Marci Irvin, both of Dallas, Texas.
Flower girls were Taylor Edwardson, cousin of the bride and Miss Megan Carrigan, cousin of the groom. Members of the house party included Mrs. April Machock, Miss Jennifer Wingo and Miss Megan Wall of Houston.
Serving his brother as the best man was Mr. Jamie Stewart, of Houston. The groomsmen were Mr. Tony Johnson, brother of the bride, Mr. Brett Chiles, Mr. Kevin Holland, Mr. James Lee, Mr. James Murchison, all of Houston; Mr. Tip Strickland of Fort Worth, Texas; and Mr. Joel Moore, of College Station, Texas. Ushers were Mr. Blake Koen, Mr. Nicholas Anderson, cousin of the groom, both of Houston; Mr. Jason Shurley, cousin of the bride, of Katy; Mr. David Anderson, of Fort Worth; Mr. Christopher Stewart, of New Ulm, both cousins of the groom.
The bride is a graduate of John Foster Dulles High School in Sugar Land, and earned a BA from Texas Christian University. She is a member of Chi Omega. Currently, the bride is employed as a partnership coordinator at Brand Imagination in Houston. The groom is a graduate of Memorial High School, and earned a BBA from Texas Christian University. He is a member of Sigma Chi. The groom is employed with Stewart and Stevenson in Houston.
Following their honeymoon to St. Thomas and St. John's in the Virgin Islands, the couple resides in Houston.
