Miss Allison Marie Pappas Weds Mr. William Grier Martin, Junior
Miss Allison Marie Pappas and Mr. William Grier Martin, junior were united in marriage on Saturday, October 9, 1999 at seven o'clock in the evening at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was performed by Deacon Woods Martin, with music by Stephan Roddy, organist, and the Houston Children's Chorus. Reading were given by Miss Caroline Frances Bolz, cousin of the bride, and Mr. Alexander Pedigo Cheek, cousin of the groom. A reception followed at the St. Regis Hotel, with music by Grady Gaines. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Rice.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Carl Pappas of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Harold LaVerne Fouts and the late Mr. Harold LaVerne Fouts of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pappas, also of Lincoln.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Grier Martin, senior of Louisville, Kentucky. He is the grandson of Mrs. George William Pedigo, junior and the late Dr. George William Pedigo, junior of Louisville, Kentucky and Mrs. Boyce Ficklen Martin, senior, and the late Mr. Boyce Ficklen Martin, senior, also of Louisville.
Miss Emily Anne Pappas, Miss Elizabeth Jane Pappas, and Miss Rebecca Claire Pappas, served their sister as maids of Honor, all of Houston. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Tracy Lee Conner and Mrs. Amanda Bolz Barbour, cousins of the bride, of Houston; Miss Elizabeth Leigh Martin, sister of the groom, of Cambridge, Massachusetts; Mrs. Kristine Donnel Peterson Rudolph of Atlanta, Georgia; Mrs. Donielle Krug Graham of Dallas, Texas; Miss Meghan Rebecca Watkins and Miss Mary Elizabeth Ivers, both of Houston. Miss Bridget Cleo Guthrie, cousin of the bride, of Dallas, Texas and Miss Sophia Eames Johnson, cousin of the groom, of Louisville, Kentucky, served as flower girls.
Members of the houseparty included Mrs. Allison Peyton Brandt, Miss Lesley Lorraine Conte, Miss Marie Antonia Dimakopoulos, Miss Susanna Ruth Hancock, Mrs. Elizabeth White Russell and Mrs. Elizabeth Mohan Trammell, all of Houston.
Serving as the best man was Mr. Bruce Moore Brown, of Atlanta, Georgia. The groomsmen were Mr. Richard Charles Cammerer, junior and Mr. Patrick Sinclair Hale, both of Nashville, Tennessee; Mr. Todd Andrew Mehall of Austin, Texas; Mr. Timothy Richard O'Neill of Chicago, Illinois; Mr. Christopher Scott Rainey of Louisville, Kentucky; Mr. Benjamin Barrett Sams of Waltham, Massachusetts; Mr. William Brown Shearer III of Atlanta, Georgia; Mr. John Milner Shields of Danville, California; and Mr. John Waggoner Willingham of Dallas, Texas. Mr. Anthony Paul Bolz served as junior groomsman and Master Collin Michael Conner served as ring bearer, both cousins of the bride and of Houston.
The bride is a graduate of St. Agnes Academy. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Southern Methodist University. She is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Currently, the bride is a third year law student at South Texas College of Law in Houston and will graduate in May of 2000. After graduation, the bride will be employed in Houston as an associate with the law firm of Fulbright and Jaworski, LLP.
The groom is a graduate of Kentucky Country Day School in Louisville, Kentucky, and earned a Bachlor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University. He is a member of Phi Delta Theta. The groom is employed with El Paso Energy Corporation in Houston.
Following a honeymoon to Sedona and Lanai, the couple will reside in Houston.
