Heather Katharine Way and William Gerow Christian, III were united in marriage on Saturday, March 27, 1999 at eleven o'clock in the morning at Saint John's Episcopal Church in New Braunfels, Texas. The Reverend Edward Stein officiated at the ceremony. A reception followed on the banks of the Comal River. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at the Gristmill Restaurant in Gruene, Texas.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Barbara Way of Austin, Texas and Dr. David m. Way of New Brunfels, Texas. She is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Walter A. Phillips of Selmer, Tennessee and Mr. Norman C. Way of New Braunfels, Texas and the late Mrs. Katharine Mott Way.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William G. Christian, Jr. of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Drew Moreland of Shreveport, Louisiana and Mrs. William Gerow Christian, Sr. of Midlothian, Virginia and the late Reverend Dr. Christian.
The bride's Empire style gown featured a sleeveless bodice embellished with silk cording and pearls. The princess line skirt was of silk taffeta. A veil of antique Brussels lace belonging to the bride's aunt, Mrs. Peter M. Way, completed her ensemble.
Serving as Maid of Honor was the bride's sister, Emily Ann Way of Austin, Texas. Attending the groom as Best Man was Thomas Chmielewski of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Kelsey Camareno of Cedar Park, Texas served as Flower Girl. The wedding party consisted of Kathleen Christian of Cambridge, Massachusetts, sister of the groom, Amy Anton of Austin, Texas, cousin of the bride Stacy Burke of Dallas, Texas, Quincy Smith of Austin, Texas, Maurisa Couch of Kingwood, Texas, Christa Pierre of Danberry, Connecticut, Kirsten Leonard of Louisville, Colorado, Robin Lessie and Dan Ryan of Shorewood, Wisconsin, Kitty and Joe Camareno of Cedar Park, Texas, Heather and James Holmes of Dallas, Texas, and Susan and Stuart Rockoff of Austin, Texas.
The bride is a graduate of Canyon High School in New Braunfels, Texas and the University of Texas, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Beta Phi sorority. At the University of Texas School of Law, she was Grand Chancellor of her class, Associate Editor of the Texas Law Review, and was elected to the Order of the Coif. She is currently a Skadden Fellow at Legal Aid of Central Texas in Austin.
The groom attended the Kinkaid School and is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Yale University. At the University of Texas School of Law, he was a Townes Rice Scholar, Editor-in-Chief of the Texas Law Review, and a member of the Order of the Coif. He is now an attorney with the Austin law firm of Graves, Dougherty, Hearon & Moody.
Following a honeymoon in Costa Rica, the couple will reside in Austin, Texas.
