Miss Juanita Lorraine Page and Mr. Geoffrey Theodore Gish were united on Saturday, May 2, 1998, in the West Rose Garden of the Houston Garden Center. The Honorable Bonnie Crane Hellums officiated at the double ring ceremony. Music was provided by the Marlow String Quartet featuring soloist Larissa Strubel. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held inside the Houston Garden Center. The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Nino's Italian Restaurant on Thursday evening, April 30, 1998.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McFarland, and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank George Gray, all formerly of Houston. The groom is the son of Dr. Claudia Gish-Zacharias of Houston and Dr. Theodore G. Gish, also of Houston. He is the grandson of Mrs. Dorothy Johnson of Houston, and the late Mrs. Preston Johnson of Sonoma, California.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. For her wedding, the bride chose a diamond white gown of raw silk with a bodice encrusted in seed peals and intricate beading. With her gown, the bride wore her mother's watch, and earrings fashioned from heirloom jewelry given to her by the groom's mother.
The bride's attendants wore formal dresses with daffodil yellow satin bodices and full skirts of gold organza. Each attendant wore pearls matching those of the bride, and carried a singe rose in full bloom. Ms. Christi Lynn Caple of Houston served as maid of honor and Ms. Jeanine Elaine Lee of Pasadena served as honorary maid of honor. Also attending the bride were her dear friends, Mrs. Glenda Lucille Smith, and sister of the groom, Ms. Sarah Dorothy Gish, both of Houston. The flower girl was Miss Lauren Elizabeth Gray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Gray of Humble and second cousin of the bride. The ring bearer was Master Brian Oliver Baird, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Baird of Houston, Texas.
The groomsmen wore traditional black tuxedos with matching vests and ties of hunter green. Mr. Kenneth Posner served as best man. The groomsmen included Mr. David Michael page, brother of the bride, and Mr. Thomas R. Yeates of Pearland and Mr. W. Edward Branstetter of Houston, close friends of both the bride and groom. The bride's mother was escorted with pride by her son, Mr. Dwight Richard Page of Tomball, eldest brother of the bride.
At the Garden Center reception, the guests were entertained by music provided by Mr. Roy Hampton and emceed by Mr. Gregory Hernandez. The newlywed couple danced their first dance to a special song dedicated to them and performed by Mr. Michael Smith.
Members of the house party included Mrs. Lizanne Yeates of Pearland, Miss Amy Wycough and Miss Betty Wycough, both of Pasadena, Mrs. Dixie Olson of Sugarland, Mrs. Susan Kuzma of Aurora, Colorado, Mrs. Janece Gilbert of Kemah, Ms. Ann Hamby of Bellaire, and Mrs. Becky Bauman, Miss Judy Flint and Mrs. Deborah Naragon, all of Houston. The house party was valiantly assisted by Mr. Stuart Buchanan of Houston.
The bride and groom retired to the Wyndham Warwick for their wedding night. After an extended honeymoon in Paris, France, the couple now resides in Houston.
