Miss Nina Kay Andrews and Mr. David Allen Karohl were married at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6th at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas. The Reverend Mary Elizabeth Conroy performed the ceremony with the Reverend Edwin D. Peterman, Senior Pastor, Christ the king Lutheran Church, as co-officiant. A formal reception, dinner and dance at The Bayou Club followed the ceremony. On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Treebeard's on Old Market Square in Downtown Houston.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Linda Kay Andrews and Mr. Edward House Andrews, Jr. of Houston and a fifth-generation Texan. She is the granddaughter of the late Gladys Louise Madigin and Edward House Andrews of Houston and Orlean Glass and Cameron Milton Kay of Waco, Texas and Houston.
The bridegroom is the son of the Honorable and Mrs. Kent Erwin Karohl of Kirkwood, Missouri. The bridegroom's father is a State of Missouri Appellate Court Judge. He is the grandson of Mrs. Clara Anna Renata Brockman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the late Mr. Charles Lewis Brockman and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Louis Karohl of Crestwood, Missouri.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown of featherweight silk-satin organza with a sweep train designed by Carmela Sutera of New York. The short-sleeved gown featured a sheer scoop neckline, finely-tucked bodice, and flowing skirt bordered with luminous silk ribbon. An illusion veil edged also in silk ribbon fell in tiers from the bride's headband to her face and shoulders and beyond the length of her train. The bride carried a bouquet of gardenias and peonies.
The bride's matron of honor was Mrs. Louise Andrews Moss, sister of the bride. Mr. Marco Angelo Maria Ambrosoli of Belmont, Massachusetts served as the bridegroom's Best Man. Misses Melissa Grace and Charlotte Kay Vanderhoef of Austin, second cousins of the bride were flower girls. Mr. Dimitrios Nikolaos Pelekoudas of Lynn, Massachusetts, second cousin of the bridegroom was the ring bearer.
Ushers included Mr. Edward House Andrews III of Madrid, Spain, brother of the bride;Mr. John Joseph Kang, of St. Louis, Missouri, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; Mr. Gary Philemon Moss of Houston, brother-in-law of the bride; Mr. Glenn Linton Weber, Jr. of New Haven, Connecticut; Mr. George Pei-Keh Fan of Fremont, California, and Mr. Adrian Chio-Sheng Wang of Dallas.
Serving as members of the Houseparty were Mrs. Dabney Cubbage Meaux and Miss Patricia Ann Thessen of Houston; Miss Carla Knobloch of Houston and Atlanta; Mrs. Pamela Pappas Mattingly of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Elizabeth Beier Hirschorn of New York City and Mrs. Christina Camille Morris of Austin, Texas, a first cousin of the bride.
The bride graduated from Dana Hall in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She received an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Economics from Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, where he was a member of the Fence Club. She earned a masters degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. Prior to her marriage, she was employed in Houston as a fund raiser for non-profit pediatric healthcare and medical research.
The bridegroom is a graduate of Kirkwood High School, Kirkwood, Missouri. He received undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering and in German and a masters degree in Chemical Engineering Practice from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Xi honor societies and was a member of Phi Beta Epsilon fraternity. The bridegroom is employed in Houston as a senior business development manager with Solvay Interox, Inc., a Brussels, Belgium-based multinational chemicals concern with North American headquarters located in Houston.
Following a wedding trip to Australia and New Zealand, the couple will reside in Houston.
