Miss Camille Louise Cromwell and Mr. Joel Robert Scott were united in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony at Holy Rosary Church of Houston, Texas on Saturday, June 13, 1998 at half past seven o'clock in the evening. The candlelight double ring ceremony was performed and blessed by the Reverend Robert Troy Gately, Vice-Chancellor for the Houston-Galveston Diocese. Music was provided by Scott Holshouser, organist, Scott Warkentin, trumpeter, and the Spring Branch Boys Choir. Scripture readings were given by Mr. Mark Goodson. A buffet dinner and dance followed the ceremony at the River Oaks Country Club with entertainment by The Pictures of Austin. On the eve of the wedding, a Rehearsal Dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at The Forest Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Richard Melvin Yax of Houston and Mr. Robert Owen Cromwell of Tennessee. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Robert Bretney Crockett and the late Mr. Crockett of Fort Worth, Texas.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Gene Scott of Lakeway, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Martin Singer of Wilson, New York and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harry Scott of Jefferson City, Missouri.
Mrs. Cynthia Cromwell Burnham of Houston served her sister as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Ann Ankar Cromwell, sister-in-law of the bride, Mrs. Kathryn Josey Stone and Miss Laura Ruth Wackman, all of Houston; Mrs. Melissa Yankello Bonicelli of Alexandria, Virginia; Mrs. Helana Beal Pedregon of Concord, Massachusetts and Mrs. Michelle Haltom Shetler of San Antonio, Texas. Miss Taylor Louise Burnham, niece and godchild of the bride, was the flower girl.
Mr. Gary Lyndon Ross and Mr. Stephen Craig Helm, both of Houston, served as best men. The groomsmen were Mr. Robert Owen Cromwell, II, brother of the bride and Mr. William Randall Robertson, both of Houston; Jay Martin Scott, brother of the groom, of Dallas, Texas; Mr. Robert Scott Jordan of Morgans Point, Texas and Mr. Michael John Melody of Newport Beach, California.
Members of the house party included Miss Haley Tribble Cobb of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Cecily Small Gooch of Austin, Texas; Mrs. Carrie Harp Fisher, Miss Kimberly Kyle Robertson, Mrs. Elizabeth Schulze Robison, and Mrs. Rebecca Kirk Schwinger, all of Houston. The ushers were Mr. Edward William Barnett, Jr., Mr. Robert William Brann, Mr. Timothy Douglas Burnham, brother-in-law of the bride, Mr. Christopher Steven Klein, Mr. Wiley Yandell Rogers and Mr. Christopher Ennis Young, all of Houston.
The bride and groom are both graduates of Robert E. Lee High School, Houston. The bride is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in government and psychology. She is a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and the Junior League of Houston. She is Press Secretary and Congressional Aide for U.S. Congressman Bill Archer.
The groom is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration and is a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Joel is a vice president for the commercial properties division of CB/Richard Ellis.
Following a honeymoon trip to Italy, Mr. and Mrs. Scott will reside in Houston.
