Miss Cindy Michelle Johnson and Mr. Jason Daven Davis were united in marriage on Saturday, June 20, 1998 at half past seven in the evening at Houston's First Baptist Church. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Jason Swiggart, with music by organist, Mr. Marvin Gaspard, and vocalists, Mrs. Barbara Johnson and Mr. Troy Johnson. A buffet dinner and dance followed at the Briar Club. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Churascos.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Eugene Johnson of Houston and the granddaughter of Mrs. Sarah Janet Goebel of Austin, Texas and the late Mr. Louis Yancy Johnson; and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Newton Walker. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Edward Davis of Kingwood, Texas and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Thompson of Winsboro, Louisiana; and the late Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Robinson.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant sleeveless gown with a scooped portrait neckline. The fitted bodice was embellished with bridal pearls, and the full skirt of silk illusion flowed to a circular court length train. To complement her gown, she wore a tiara of jeweled pearls along with a two-tiered finger tip veil of silk illusion.
The bridesmaids wore formal gowns of black silk crepe and black satin. The scooped back featured crossing satin bands, and the fitted bodice and skirt fell elegantly to the tips of matching crepe slippers.
Serving as the bride's maid of honor was Miss Janet Leigh Netherland of Houston. The bridesmaids were Miss Jennifer Kay Longoria, Mrs. Michelle Hernandez Nelson, Mrs. Tammy Locket Maaz all of Houston, and Miss Kimberly Renee Johnson, niece of the bride of Sugarland, Texas.
Serving as the groom's best man was Mr. Matthew Scott Klein of Atlanta, Georgia. The groomsmens were Mr. Jeffrey Todd Quinn of Atlanta, Georgia; Mr. Paul Michael Tomochko of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Mr. Trent Steven Blackwell of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; and Mr. James Matthew Davis, brother of the groom of Kingwood, Texas.
Serving as flower girl was Miss Chelsea Lynn Callahan of Tomball, Texas. Serving as ring bearer was Mr. Cameron Paul Walker of Humble, Texas; both are cousins of the bride.
The bride is a 1990 graduate of Memorial High School, and a 1994 graduate of Southwest Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She is a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and a Kappa Alpha Order ^"Southern Belle." She is currently attending the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and will receive her Master's degree in Counseling in December, 1998.
The groom is a 1990 graduate of Kingwood High School, and a 1997 graduate of the University of Houston with B.B.A. degree in Accounting and Taxation. He is a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and is currently employed as an accountant with Compaq computers. He will be taking his CPA exam in November, 1998.
Following a 10 day honeymoon trip to the Tahitian Islands of Moorea and Tahiti, the couple will reside in Houston.
