Susan Kay Quillin and Todd Christopher Gehlert were united in marriage on Saturday, June 20, 1998 at four o'clock in the afternoon at First Baptist Church in Humble, Texas. Dr. Toby McSwain officiated the ceremony. Music at the ceremony was provided by Jean Smith, pianist, James Baker, organist, and soloists were Cynthia Berg and Robert Thornburg. A reception followed at Walden of Lake Houston Golf & Country Club with music by Shane Henry of Best Entertainers of Houston. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a barbeque reception catered by Goody Girls of Baytown.
Susan is the daughter of Neal and Linda Quillin of Humble, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ruth Crisp, Mrs. Helen Quillin and Mrs. Agnes McCown. Todd is the son of Charles and Ann Gehlert of Crosby, Texas. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Leslorts and Mrs. Esther Baxter.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown of silk, lace and pearls designed by Jim Hjelm. To complement the gown, she wore an antique tiara with her mother's veil. Dawn Nation served as the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Anna Kesselus, Christi Ellison, Kim Niestrath, Tiffany Crisp, Leslie Garvin and Tracy Cannon. The junior bridesmaids were Claire Crisp and Breanna Guempel. Alyssa Guempel was the flowergirl. Members of the houseparty were Amy Rozell, Gina Scurlock, Jaime Osburn, Bonnie Himel, Laura Myers, Christy Hodges and Kari Marrs.
Paul VanHeldorf was the best man. The groomsmen were Rob Reuer, Shane Niestrath, Kevin Norrid, Aaron VanHeldorf, Eric VanHeldorf, and John Quillin. The ringbearer was Alex Garvin. The ushers were Blake Crisp, Rob Garvin, Jim Byrd and Troy Ellison.
Susan is a graduate of University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was on the Who's Who of University Students. She is a registered nurse with Texas Women's Hospital. Todd attends San Jacinto Junior College and is employed with Continental Airlines.
Susan and Todd want to thank all their family and friends for making their wedding a very special and memorable event. Following a honeymoon cruise to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Humble.
