Miss Frances Christine Robertson and Mr. Shea Brian Morenz were united in holy matrimony on Saturday, January 31, 1998, at eight o'clock in the evening at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Dr. James Wendall Moore and assisted by Monsignor William Paul Robertson, great-uncle of the bride. Music for the candlelight service, consisting of selections from the Medieval, Baroque, and Victorian periods, was performed by the Houston Boychoir, under the direction of Mr. Michael Lysinger; the Houston Chamber Music Quintet; and instrumental soloists Mr. Rob Landes, harpsichord; Mrs. Alecia Lawyer, oboe; and Mr. Daniel Shipman, trumpet.
A buffet dinner and dance followed at the Houston Country Club with music provided by ^"Sha'on and Success" of New Orleans, Louisiana. Upon arrival of the bride and groom, the Hamilton Bagpipers escorted the couple into the ballroom, a tribute to the bride's late grandfather, Mr. Corbin James Robertson. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at the River Oaks Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Corbin James Robertson, Jr. of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Robert Keen Moses and the late Mr. Robert Keen Moses and Mrs. Corbin James Robertson and the late Mr. Corbin James Robertson, all of Houston.
The groom is the son of Ms. Melinda Ricci Morenz of San Angelo, Texas and Mr. Brian John Morenz of San Diego, California. He is the grandson of Ms. Zola Elston Ricci of San Angelo, Texas and Dr. Henry Nicandro Ricci of Walnut Creek, California and Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin William Carl Morenz of Washago, Ontario, Canada.
Given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father, the bride ware an original gown, inspired by nineteenth-century fashion, of antique Brussels Duchesse lace in the ^"point de rose" pattern and candlelight silk satin, designed by the bride and created by Lisette Lux Salon de Couture. The pleated bodice was embellished with square decolletage edged with ruffled lace, lace inset, and three-quarter-length sleeves trimmed with seamless lace cuffs. The slipper length skirt, accented by a deep border of lace and satin pleating, was softly bustled into a sweeping train. The lace on the gown was intricately hand-beaded with turn-of-the-century French pearls and Czech crystals. To complement her gown, a cathedral-length veil composed of tiers of silk illusion trimmed with antique Brussels lace and a traditional blusher were fastened into a coronet of porcelain roses, antique glass orange blossoms, and seed pearls. The bride wore a diamond and pearl drop that was worn by her mother on her wedding day and carried an heirloom sterling-silver prayer book enhanced by a cascade of lilies-of-the-valley and a delicate lace handkerchief, hand-made by the Benedictine nuns of the Monastery of Argantan, France.
The bride's attendants were elegantly attired in original gowns of luminous ^"cameo" pink full-length taffeta skirts and iridescent silk chiffon blouses with ruffled collars and cuffs. Each of the attendants carried a European-style bouquet of French garden roses, sweet peas, maiden hair fern, and English ivy, tied with hand-braided imported French ribbon embellished with silk rose petals.
Cousins of the bride, Miss Jennifer Jeanne Moses of Houston served as Maid-of-Honor and Mrs. Thomas Scott Holstead of New York, New York served as Matron-of-Honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Doak Doubet Brown, Miss Leslie Maureen Cannon, Miss Karen Lynn Hyman, Miss Adrienne Tyner Kurtz, Miss Molly Gardner Moore, Miss Susan Elizabeth Snell, and Miss Amy Kathleen Styck, all of Houston; Mrs. Richard Kent McGaughy, Jr. of Boston, Massachusetts; Miss Cynthia Joan Shaprio of New York, New York; and Miss Allison Jane Speed of Atlanta, Georgia. Flower girls were Miss Wilhelmina Monroe May Baumann and Miss Emilia Marianna Kathryn Baumann, cousins of the bride, of Malibu, California. Miss Wilhelmina Baumann carried an antique silver cake basket filled with French garden roses and sweet peas, and Miss Emelia Baumann carried a nosegay of gilded wheat, miniature roses, and sweet peas.
Mr. Brenton John Morenz, brother of the groom, of Austin, Texas served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. William Reagan Birdwell, Jr., Mr. Michael William Green, and Mr. William Keen Robertson, brother of the bride, all of Austin, Texas; Mr. Michael Givens Minter of San Francisco, California; Mr. David Emmit Odom and Mr. Richard Reed Wadsworth, III, both of Dallas, Texas; Mr. Brian Temple Ricci, Mr. Shawn Michael Ricci, and Mr. Stephen Henry Ricci, Jr., cousins of the groom, all of Santa Barbara, California; Mr. Corbin James Robertson, III, brother of the bride, of Houston; Mr. Blake Stanley Vincent of San Angelo, Texas; and Mr. Justin Heath Wright of Phoenix, Arizona. Ring bearer was Master Maximillian Baumann, cousin of the bride, of Malibu, California.
Members of the house party included Miss Cullen Kathleen Geiselman, cousin of the bride, of Houston; Miss Carroll Rose Hochner, cousin of the bride, of Durham, North Carolina; Miss Shannon Jean Thomas of Dallas, Texas; and Miss Amy Katheryne Werlin of Austin, Texas. Ushers included Mr. Miles Raymond Brandon, II, Mr. Grover Gallagher Geiselman, cousin of the bride, and Mr. Ryan Douglas Moss, all of Houston; Mr. James Byrne Carter, Mr. Todd Logan Neilon, and Mr. Jay Wayne Orr, all of San Angelo, Texas; Mr. Marc Meyer Goldman of Fort Worth, Texas; Mr. Ryan Lee Kraudel, Mr. Cosmo Alberto Palmieri, and Mr. Greg Eric Rounds, all of Austin, Texas.
Christine is a graduate of The Kinkaid School and The University of Texas at Austin where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Plan II Honors Program, a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Radio-Television-Film, and a Business Foundations Certificate. She is member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and a Kappa Alpha Southern Belle.
Shea is a graduate of San Angelo Central High School and The University of Texas at Austin where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance. He is a member of the Kappa Alpha Order and the Silver Spurs. He is a former member of both The University of Texas football and baseball teams, where he garnered honors for Academic All-America as quarterback and All-Southwest Conference as right-fielder. He is currently pursuing a professional baseball career with the New York Yankees Organization, after being selected in the first round of the 1995 Major League Baseball Draft.
Following a honeymoon to the Hawaiian Islands and California, the couple will reside in Tampa, Florida.
