Miss Ashley Elizabeth Haglund and Mr. Thomas Benson Satterwhite were united in marriage on Saturday, January 31, 1998 at seven o'clock in the evening at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring candlelight ceremony was performed by the Reverend David Carpenter. A scripture reading was given by the Reverend Karin Tanenholtz, aunt of the bride from Southboro, Massachusetts. A reception followed at Lakeside Country Club with musical entertainment by the Argyles. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Forest Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Seymour Haglund of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Frederick Schoonmaker Lott of Arlington, Virginia and the late Mr. Lott and the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Elmer Haglund. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Terry Keith Satterwhite of Houston. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Luther Wayne Summers and the late Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Burgin Satterwhite all of North Carolina.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride selected an ivory silk faced satin gown which was complimented with silk buttons continuing down the chapel train. The bride wore stephanotis flowers in her hair and carried a bouquet of roses, lilac, and tulips.
Mrs. Ashley Jones Guglielmo of Atlanta, Georgia, served as Matron of Honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Jamie Joanne Edwards, Miss Traci Rosalie Thompson, and Miss Alyce Paige Satterwhite, sister of the groom, all of Houston, Miss Virginia Elizabeth Merkle of Dallas, Texas, and Miss Paige Christina Olmstead of Stamford, Connecticut. Members of the House Party included Mrs. Sharon Rogers Appel, Mrs. Lara Ham Finnila, and Mrs. Alison Dean Gilmartin, all of Houston, and Miss Anne Elizabeth Thompson of South Riding, Virginia, cousin of the bride.
Mr. Jonathan Edward Parker, junior of Houston, Texas served as the groom's Best Man. The groomsmen were Mr. Darrell Wayne Borak, and Mr. Sean Michael Kunec, both of Houston, Mr. Todd Llewellyn Haglung of Charlotte, North Carolina, brother of the bride, Mr. Robert Ryan Poulter of League City, Texas, and Mr. Wayne Patrick Whitmire of Austin, Texas. The ushers were Mr. Douglas Carl Overstreet and Mr. Robert Joseph Scott both of Dallas, Texas, Mr. Brien Austin Sanders of New Braunsfels, Texas, and Mr. Shridhar Yaratha of Charlotte, West Virginia Serving as ring bearer was Master Cameron Browning Alvarez of Dallas, Texas.
The bride is a graduate of Stratford High School and Southern Methodist University and is a member of Delta Delta sorority. She is employed by Donovan Benefit Systems, Inc. as an Account Executive.
The groom is a graduate of Stratford High School and Austin College and is a member of Rho Lambda Theta fraternity. He is employed by T/GE Resources as a Project Scientists.
Following a honeymoon trip to St. Lucia in the Winward Islands, they will reside in Houston, Texas.
