Jodi Lynn Marcus and Matthew John Padon were united in marriage on Saturday, January 31, 1998, at half past seven in the evening. The marriage was officiated by Judge Eric Andell. The ceremony and reception were held at La Colombe d'Or, Le Grand Salon de la Comtesse. On the eve of the wedding a formal dinner was hosted by the groom's family at the Houston Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Milton R. Marcus. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. David Milner of Detroit, Michigan and the late Mr. & Mrs. Benjamin Marcus of Detroit, Michigan. The groom is the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. William B. Padon. He is the grandson of the late Mr. & Mrs. J.A. Padon of Tulsa, Oklahoma and the late Mr. & Mrs. Frank O'Brien of Chicago, Illinois.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a wedding gown created exclusively for her by Lisette Lux Salon de Couture. The princess cut gown was fashioned from Champagne silk duchesse. The gown featured side drapes that flowed toward the back into a chapel length train.
The attendants wore formal gowns of chocolate brown velvet and silk satin. Jill Frison Cortez and Tamara Alfano Russell served as matrons of honor. The bridesmaids were Carroll Reckling Goodman and Suzanne Morris Walsh, both of Houston; Brooke Michelle Marcus, niece of the bride, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Mary Stamper Shue of Bethesda, Maryland; Blair Ransone Waite and Karen Barker Workman, both of Charlotte, North Carolina. The flower girls were Alberta Stamper, niece of the groom, and Lindsey Russell.
Anthony J. Padon of Houston, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Mark K. Butler of San Antonio; Carothers Hall Evans of Jacksonville, Florida; Edward B. Galtney, Michael Holdsworth, Ted Monesson, Thomas R. Reckling, IV, and Paul Hunter Traylor, all of Houston.
Members of the brides house party were Robyn Reynolds LaRocca, Jana Parsley McHenry, both of Houston, and Robin Robinson of Austin, Texas. Ushers were Mark A. Padon and Frank B. Padon, brothers of the groom; Robert C. Livingston and Joseph S. Tamborello, all of Houston.
Jodi is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Houston and Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia. She received her Juris Doctorate degree from South Texas College of Law. She is currently employed by Scurlock Permian L.L.C. Matthew is a graduate of Strake Jesuit High School in Houston and The University of Texas in Austin where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. He is currently employed by Texas Capital Securities.
Following a honeymoon in Lanai and Maui, Hawaii, the couple will reside in Houston.
