Gilbert -- Couch
Miss Casie Ann Gilbert of Dallas and Dr. Jason Lynn Couch of Chicago, Ill., were united in marriage at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001 at the First Baptist Church in Sherman. Dr. Tom Brandon and Rev. Robin McGee officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Rev. O.C. Gilbert, grandfather of the bride, read scripture and led a prayer of blessing.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Gilbert of Sherman. Grandparents are Dixie Evans and the late Homer Evans of Leonard and the Rev. O.C. Gilbert and the late Juanita Gilbert of Sherman. She graduated from Sherman High School and Baylor University. She is employed by Arthur Andersen.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Couch of Mesquite. Grandparents are Angela Couch and the late Fred Couch and Mr. and Mrs. Brack Warren, all of Mesquite. He graduated from Mesquite High School, Baylor University and UT Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He is employed by Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, Ill.
Flower girls were Anabelle Archer of Dallas, Kathryn Sild and Allyn Steele, both of Sherman, and Bridget Watson of Leonard, cousin of the bride. Clay Gilbert was ring bearer and Grant Gilbert was honorary ring bearer, both of Sherman and nephews of the bride.
Brent Barthlomew of Mesquite served as best man. Groomsmen were Brian Bessent of Abilene, brother-in-law of the groom, Dr. J.D. Fuller of Temple, Dean Gilbert Jr. and Joe Gilbert of Sherman, brothers of the bride, Paul Gontarek of Nashville, Tenn., Dr. Michael Hay of Irving, Dr. Joel Hurt of Dallas, Kelly Kovar and Kyle Kovar, both of Combine, cousins of the groom.
Ushers were Kevin Evans of Arlington, Gregory Fife and John Fife of Sherman, all cousins of the bride, Dave Kimball of Dallas, Dr. Jay York of Temple and Bill Kovar of Combine, uncle of the groom.
Wedding music was presented by Anne McGee of Sherman, pianist, and Jeff Herrick of Sherman, organist. Vocalists included Jennifer Young and Shannon Boyd of Plano and Bryan Stone of Dallas. Other musicians included Suzy Womble, flutist, Patricia Diers, harpist, Russ Kelman, guitarist and Jeff Walker, trumpeter.
A reception was held in the Sherman Municipal Ballroom following the ceremony, with the bride's parents as hosts.
The couple will be at home in Chicago after a wedding cruise in the Caribbean.
The bridegroom's parents were hosts to a Mexican fiesta rehearsal dinner on April 6 at Benjamin's in Sherman.
