Barnes — Joo
Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Pittsburg, and Seunghwan Joo, Changwon, South Korea, were married at 2 p.m. May 23, 2009 at Countryside Christian Church in Pittsburg.
The Rev. Don Smith performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Steve and Debbie Barnes, Iola, and the groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Jong-Sik Joo, Changwon.
Grandparents attending the wedding were Ray and Margie Barnes and Barbara Barnes, Iola.
Soo Hyun Myung, Pittsburg, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Grace Riebel, Iola, and Seung-yeon Joo, Changwon, sister of the groom.
Best man was Myung-gu Kang, Pittsburg. Groomsmen were Kyunghoon Kim and Chunsik Ohm, Pittsburg.
The bride wore a satin A-line gown with chiffon split front overlay, embroidery and chapel-length train.
Seating the guests were Minsung Jang, Yusuke Nakamura and Chase Riebel.
Day coordinator was Charity Enabnit. Flower girl was Hope Stephens, and ring bearer was Hunter Stephens.
Ji-eun Nam played the piano. Myung-gu Kang was vocalist.
A reception was held following the ceremony at the church.
Following a honeymoon to Miami and the Key West, Fla., area, the couple are at home in Opolis.
Mrs. Joo is a 2001 graduate of Iola High School and a 2007 graduate of Pittsburg State University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and ESOL certification.
She is employed by Southeast Kansas Interlocal No. 637 in Pittsburg.
Mr. Joo is a 2005 graduate of Changwon Nam High School and will graduate from PSU in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and minors in chemistry and physical science.
