Sarah Marie Welker and Benjamin Michael Brocker, Overland Park, were married at 6 p.m. April 24 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Kansas City, Mo.
The bride is the daughter of Ronald Jr. and Mary Welker, Shawnee. The groom is the son of John and Linda Brocker, Iola.
Special guests at the wedding were the bride’s grandparents, Ronald Sr. and Doris Welker, Shawnee.
Kathryn Welker, Shawnee, was maid of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Kerri Brocker, Shawnee, Kathryn Lietzau, Austin, Texas, Jennifer Terflinger, Overland Park, and Christina Thompson, Atlanta, Ga.
Jonathan Brocker, Shawnee, served as best man for his brother. Serving as groomsmen and ushers were Dustin Moyer, Dakota Jensen and Cody Strickler, Iola, and Jeffar Tobaee, Lawrence.
Candlelighter was Sarah Gile, Shawnee, cousin of the groom.
Flower girl was Brooke Patterson, Liberty, Mo., cousin of the bride, and ring bearer was A.J. Brocker, Shawnee, cousin of the groom.
Readers at the wedding were Casey Mucha, Houston, Texas, and Bill Brocker, Shawnee, uncle of the groom.
Music was provided by Megan Burgess, Chicago, Ill.
Gift bearers were Patty and Chris Patterson, Chicago, aunt and uncle of the bride.
Greeters and handing out programs were Barbara and Randy Downey, Yates Center.
Wedding planner was Jeanne Pribyl, Olathe.
The couple are at home in Overland Park.
Mrs. Brocker is a 2000 graduate of Shawnee Mission North. She graduated in May 2005 from Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, with a degree in agriculture development. She was a member of Texas A&M girls diving team. She is employed at UPS in Lenexa.
Mr. Brocker is a 2000 graduate of Iola High School, 2002 graduate of Allen County Community College and graduated in May 2006 from the University of Kansas with a master’s degree in organic chemistry. He is employed at Seals, Inc. in Lenexa.
