Richard and Lois Drury
Richard and Lois Drury of Iola will be honored at a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 21 at Iola’s Senior Citizens Center, 204 N. Jefferson.
The occasion is their 50th wedding anniversary.
Richard Drury and Lois Traylor were married Sept. 21, 1958, at the Assembly of God Church in Iola. The Rev. Homer Rule performed the ceremony.
He is a 1951 graduate of Chanute High School and a 1953 graduate of Chanute Junior College.
He is also a veteran of the Korean War.
He worked for 17 years for the Iola City Police Department before driving a bus for USD 257 for 30 years. He is retired.
He continues to mow lawns from his lawn service of many years.
He is an active member of Gideons and is active in Assembly of God Church.
She is a 1955 graduate of Iola High School and 1957 graduate of Iola Junior College.
She works part-time at the Southeast Kansas Library System.
She is involved with a music ministry and has written gospel music for many years which was recorded on a CD in 2004.
Her second CD will be released shortly.
She sings with her daughter, Tammy, under the name “His Way.”
The two sing in churches, care facilities, at fund raisers and at state prisons under Freedom Ministries sponsorship.
The couple’s four daughters will host the anniversary celebration. The couple have six grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
