Ernie and Dolores Miller
Ernie and Dolores Miller, Shawnee, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 2 at the new Haysville Community Library, 210 S. Hays in Haysville.
Ernie Miller and Dolores McNett were married Aug. 17, 1959, in St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Piqua.
The Rev. Ignatius Rohr performed the ceremony.
He was raised in Neal and received a bachelor’s degree from Friends University and a master’s degree in education from Emporia State University.
He taught in the Valley Center, Wichita and Haysville school districts.
He retired from Haysville Middle School after 37 years of service.
She grew up in Piqua and spent many years baby-sitting while raising their family.
When their children were grown, she worked for the Wichita school district and retired as head custodian of Enterprise Elementary School.
The celebration will be hosted by the couple’s children, Gayle and her husband, Curt Bohling, Shawnee, and Alan and his wife, Vallerina, Haysville.
The couple have six grandchildren, Calista and Ginny Bohling, Shawnee, and Leah, Jacob, Samantha and Mary Miller of Haysville.
